Only a successful growth policy is not enough to reach the above mentioned results. The biomedical testing market is a low margin activity and therefore requiring for operational excellence. A philosophy of continuous improvement was put in place with focus on optimizing working models, realizing cost optimization, development of appropriate working tools and investments in R&D to stay ahead on competition with respect to the product and service offering. 

The position

Eurofins is looking to attract a Managing Director. The main objective for the new Managing director will be to continue strong growth. Logically, many processes, policies and regulations will have to be re-thought. Then again, the working methods, tenure and profitability need to be boosted. In addition, market share should be gained. Possibly, the company itself needs to grow by acquiring possible targets itself. The primary focus is on organic growth and profitability though. 

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Develop a high quality strategic plan with challenging, achievable and fact based milestones. 
  • Generate organic growth and increase profitability. 
  • Additional market share from competitors in this competitive segment (no price stunts). 
  • Create non-organic growth by realizing M&A activities, and developing new market segments. 
  • Lead and facilitate the sales & marketing activities . 
  • Improve the bottom line P&L performance by operational excellence. 
  • Continuous improvement projects; eg. LEAN Six Sigma. 
  • Hire, motivate and develop a high level professional team. 

Candidate profile

Eurofins is looking to attract a high potential, entrepreneurial individual in the early stage of his/her career, who brings top academic credentials and has already had P&L responsibility at a young age (ideally in a B2B environment) or is ready to make this step up.

It is imperative that the candidate has high energy, drive and a passion to win, and is willing “to roll up her/his sleeves” in this no-nonsense culture. The candidate needs to be able to think “big picture”, but also go deep into details.

  • Relevant business experience: at least 5+ years’ work experience as MD/GM with full P&L responsibility, most likely in a B2B, manufacturing or production company. Preferable a chemical or at least a technical background. 
  • Entrepreneurial: sees and seizes opportunities, can operate in a very dynamic environment with little structure and frameworks. Goal oriented, with focus and clear results in mind. 
  • Organizational leadership: Experience as end-responsible manager with a proven ability to lead change as well as providing inspirational leadership in developing, coaching and motivating large teams (50+). 
  • Change leadership: Experienced in leading organizations in a period of change, being growth oriented, or post-merger integration. 
  • Project leadership: Experienced in rolling out a new process-improving IT system on time, within budget and without disturbing the client oriented processes. 
  • Commercial Leadership: Proven familiar with leading an organization both in B2B marketing and sales, proven experience in innovation-driven top line growth. 
  • Strategic Leadership: Excellent strategic and analytical leader with proven ability to develop a sound strategic plan based on fact-based, challenging milestones. 
  • Cross functional organization: Experience in international matrix organizations where country interest constantly needs to be balanced with HQ functional lead interests. 
  • Leadership skills: Required to continuously improve the organization, focused on delivering business results, sets the example for the company values, is the personification of the company’s attitude and culture. 
  • Analytical skills: Has an analytical approach, strategic in thinking, methodical and systematic in approach while simultaneously portraying a can-do mentality to get the things done. 
  • Commercial Acumen: Commercially alert, ambitious and commercially driven with a passion for driving outstanding business results. 
  • Communication skills: Excellent communicator, persuasive, able to operate and collaborate at different levels inside and outside an international organization. Strong influencing, motivation and networking skills. 
  • Financial Acumen: Brings good financial knowledge; familiar with all factors that influence the P&L, knows how to influence customer profitability, leading to company success. 
  • Operational Excellence: In-depth knowledge of leading operations and enjoys optimizing the details of high quality processes with client satisfaction in mind. 
  • People leadership: Capable of attracting, motivating and retaining high caliber young professionals, develop them to a next level. Creating high-caliber teams.
