The presence in different international regions has resulted in a global network of acquiring banks, connecting over 300 trusted business partners with more than 5000 web merchants worldwide, processing over 100 million transactions a year. 

The position

The VP Infrastructure & Operations is part of the IT Management Team and reports to the CTO. The VP I&O provides leadership for the I&O team in Amsterdam (directly) and (indirectly) in Madrid.

The role has a significant impact on the success of the organization and is one of the key positions in the company. As such the VP is expected to contribute to the overall success of the IT team and of the organization. 

Tasks & responsibilities

In this position you are responsible for the design and operation of the Enterprise infrastructure. Keywords are: security, ultra-agility, scalability and service delivery. The infrastructure is based upon a hybrid on-premises, private cloud and public cloud approach. 

Next to this you manage the availability and performance of the transaction processing platform for clients. Maintaining the core services at 99,999% availability on a 24/7 basis and ensuring the security of the company and client data and assets. 

The VP I&O works closely with the Software Development Teams (based in Madrid and Amsterdam) to bring (new) product to market on time and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. You are also key to achieving the organization’s DevOps vision, with a world-class infrastructure supporting the product development teams. 

Thereby you manage the availability and performance of the internal (office) IT systems and desktop systems globally. Modern agile-based working practices will be developed and implemented in line with company standards and industry best practice.

Strong and reliable partnerships with suppliers will also be built by this VP. Thereby you work with the CISO to ensure suppliers conform to the organization and industry best practices and security controls. You also maintain strategic plans for the key suppliers; including Microsoft, VMWare, AWS, EMC, HP, Dell, Splunk and Linux.

Above all the ideal candidate for this ambitious, senior IT Management role leads the IT I&O team strategically and operationally to provide value for internal and external clients. He does so by creating a strong team, marked by transparency, positivity, fun to work in and fun to work with.

Candidate profile

The VP I&O is a recognized business domain expert who successfully managed similar IT organizations. The ideal candidate has a successful track record for planning and implementing programs to enable infrastructure and networks to operate and scale reliably for a fast growing global organization. He is client focused and will constantly inspire his team members and colleagues to achieve shared goals. 

This person is an inspirational leader, capable of developing high performing teams and setting the right priorities to realize and exceed business goals. 

Requirements:

  • Experience as a manager of a IT department, preferably within an e-commerce or financial services (fintech) environment;
  • 10+years of increasingly responsible IT Management experience in I&O, DevOps and/or software development;
  • Experience managing and implementing Cloud architectures in a DevOps/Agile methodology;
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience managing or overseeing the management of mid to large-scale information technology projects, including cross-functional and cross-organizational projects;
  • Sound understanding and appreciation for all major functional areas of IT;
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic plans and managing budgets;
  • Experience recommending new technology and processes that will improve customer service, reduce costs and/or provide a competitive advantage;
  • Experience in working with suppliers like Microsoft, VMWare, Dell/EMC and similar;
  • Able to develop and manage relationships;
  • Experience in managing both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Good negotiation and presentation skills;
  • Strong problem solving and collaboration skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
