The position

The Data Science & Analytics Team is the organisation's business analytics and strategic modelling capability. It delivers analytical solutions and advisory services to a wide range of clients. The team is growing rapidly and it is seeking a senior hire to set a visionary direction for the team in the Netherlands, to maximise the market opportunity, driving the development of the team and taking a leadership role with clients to:

  • Use every touchpoint to better understand data-driven transformation and engage with them
  • Combine internal and external data with rich analytical capabilities to drive insight and action
  • Make the shift to a truly transformative business strategy through the application of Data Science & Analytics
  • Integrate and optimise data modelling to enhance performance across all aspects of marketing, operations, etc.
  • Innovate their business models and operations based upon robust insights

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategy and lead the Data Science & Analytics team in the Netherlands; develop the service offerings and capability in line with market expectation.
  • Drive thought leadership and the organisation’s reputation in the market.
  • Work as part of the organisation's Data Science & Analytics team within the business to ensure the coherence of all of the offerings in this arena.
  • Work on your own or with other Principals/VPs. Responsible for new business/sell on consulting opportunities based on set targets.
  • Play a leadership role, as a VP, in the organisation’s wider business, help set the direction, drive forward the business, model the values and behaviours, and coach and develop junior members of the team.
  • Sell and deliver top-tier consulting business transformation work using modelling and analytically-based techniques or specialised pieces of work such as statistical analysis, economic modelling, business case development, risk modelling, optimisation, simulation, systems dynamics and forecasting.
  • Have the presence and gravitas to initiate, manage and maintain board/senior management relationships and to understand and scope out the challenges and potential solutions.

Candidate profile

Prior work experience as either a head/senior member of a Business Analytics team within an organisation, or a leader within a recognised consultancy focused on delivering market advisory and transformation services leveraging business analytics services.

Demonstrate:

  • Forward thinking view of the opportunity for enhanced analytics and insights capabilities and how they add business value.
  • Track record of delivering analytics capabilities and realising business value from them.
  • Proven ability to understand the needs of client’s business analytics solutions.
  • Track record of scoping, positioning and ‘selling’ business analytics solutions to internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to rigorously analyse complex issues and develop insights and solutions.
  • Ability to provide creative thinking and innovative methods.
  • Strong knowledge of the application of analytical techniques and solutions for segmentation, targeting, personalisation/next best action, churn prevention, marketing mix optimisation, pricing and behavioural modelling/prediction.
  • Experience in multiple core facing industries, specifically Financial Services, Consumer Products & Retail, Automotive, Manufacturing and Utilities will be seen positively.
  • Track record of academic achievement (first degree in a numerate subject e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Economics) and ideally a MSc. post-graduate qualification in an analytical subject such as Operational Research, Management Science, Statistics or Decision Science.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Excel.
  • Experience with modelling and analytical tools such as Simul8/Witness/ Vensim/SAS/SPSS/R will be seen as a plus.
  • Good presentation skills and experience with delivering to Senior Management or CXO level.
  • Strong general consulting skills and the ability to overcome internal barriers through the use of drive, determination and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work in mixed teams of colleagues and senior executives.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with high levels of enthusiasm and a good team player.
  • Drive & commitment to own and deliver outstanding work.
