Unit Head Projects Procurement

The position

The Unit Head Projects Procurement has supervision over unit Investments & Project related Goods & Services. In this position, you ensure that the Unit (and subsequently the Procurement Department) provides the best possible service to support the tenders and projects related procurement in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the contract in the most efficient and cost effective way. The Head Projects Procurement reports to the Manager Procurement.

General responsibilities

  • Initiate and comply with all the activities focused on meeting overall corporate objectives (Mission Statement) and the Procurement department objectives
  • Familiarise and comply with companies Quality, Safety an Environmental management system
  • To provide all the possible Procurement action and assistance to project management where- and whenever possible
  • Comply with and support of the matrix organisation
  • Provide continuity between different project phases and functional hand over
  • Promote and support continuous improvement activities within the Procurement Department
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the product, process and Corporate Management System
  • Recommends purchasing policy to internal customers in accordance with company strategy
  • Is responsible for all project procurement executed within the Procurement Department
  • Manage a team within the unit and taking care of management activities needed hereto

Job specific tasks

  • Liase with requisitioners on materials and services required
  • Source, select, review and evaluate suppliers
  • Co-ordinate and request transport and logistic services
  • Maintain Approved Vendor List
  • Ensure that procedures are being followed
  • ?Liase, negotiate and place and expedite orders.?Provide pricing information to Projects / Tenders
  • Verify and approve invoices
  • Liase with yards on outgoing and incoming shipments
  • Provide input to control procedures
  • Identify problem areas and assist in / create improvements
  • Collect and file useful information
  • Support and activate the optimisation of computerised purchasing software
  • Advise and activate a long term purchasing strategy
  • Provide day to day guidance, support and control for employees within the department

Candidate profile

  • HBO work and think level
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in offshore, shipbuilding or industrial purchasing, on a senior level.
  • Excellent market knowledge
  • Management skills
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to take initiatives.?Team player by all means
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • 'Open' personality
  • Excellent calculator, feel for figures
