Unit Head Field Joint Coating
 
The Pipeline Production Department (PPD) is responsible for the preparation of all offshore welding, non-destructive testing and field joint coating. 
 
The Unit Head Field Joint Coating oversees the coating projects and processes within the PPD and ensures that all activities are prepared and completed in a timely and cost effective manner, in accordance with project requirements. 
 
The Unit Head Coating supervises the coating engineers and reports directly to the Department Head Pipeline Production. 
 
Job tasks:
 
  • Monitor the workload of individuals and subcontractors reporting to the Unit Head Field Joint Coating and allocate tasks according to ability, knowledge and experience to ensure a healthy and challenging environment; 
  • Assign the Coating Engineer to specific project(s) and assume responsibility for performance;
  • Approve coating methods, coating equipment and coating consumables, and ensure the department produces its scope of work in a timely and cost effective way, as required for the projects;
  • Plan, approve and manage the timing and duration of coating activities at the Training Centre (TRC) and other departments on a project by project basis;
  • Monitor the progress of all coating processes on a daily basis and assign additional manpower where necessary to resolve problems or delays;
  • Maintain and expand where possible technical and practical knowledge of (offshore) pipeline coating, including the application of contract specifications, coating procedures, coating qualifications, and coating techniques, as well as a working knowledge of (non-destructive) testing techniques and their capabilities;
  • Ensure the requests from other departments for coating services and equipment for projects are dealt with in a timely fashion;
  • Maintain a good relationship with all TRC based Field Joint Coating personnel and associated activities, including planning, equipment development, investments and other related matters;
  • Identify activities, processes and procedures within the Field Joint Coating Department for possible improvement.
Job requirements:
 
  • A technical BSc / MSc degree or equivalent, and basic training in coating systems used on pipelines; 
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the coating industry, preferably in the pipeline industry; 
  • Prepared to work offshore and occasionally abroad.
