In the past “50-odd” years Chemelco Group have become a truly internationalized distributor of specialty food ingredients and chemicals. They have always stayed committed to the geographical markets where it all begun in the 1960’s, but through the years the good relations with many of the industries remained, intensified and the distribution structure changed steadily into local presence. Still serving what they call logistically challenging markets, they cannot have presence with their own offices and stocks in every country, but their regional offices and stocks are positioned in such a way that they are always “closeby”.

The position

Chemelco is active in the distribution of innovative ingredients and specialty chemicals providing technical support for product development, as well as traditional trading of commodity chemicals. As the Sales Director you manage all sales activities for the Chemelco Group and play a key role in taking the company to the next level.

As Sales Director of Chemelco Group, your key responsibilities include managing the sales activities, developing short- and long-term sales strategies, and establishing long-term partnerships with key-customers. Leading and supporting the sales team, you aim to achieve company growth and competitiveness. You must analyze market trends, collaborate with other departments, and build strong customer relationships. Your role is essential in shaping the company's future success and driving it towards continued prosperity.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Jointly responsible for setting objectives and strategy development of the group
  • Selection and development of key target industries, key-suppliers and key-customers
  • High level budget planning in conjunction with sales managers
  • Assist the purchasing team in negotiating and management of supplier contracts
  • Margin management on the supply- as well as sales-side
  • Analysis of commercial reporting from sales departments
  • Monthly sales reporting to the CEO and the board of the holding company
  • Development of sales staff and performance evaluations
  • In your role, 70% is office work and the other 30% you will be travelling
  • In this role you report to the CEO of Chemelco Group

Candidate profile

As the Sales Director of Chemelco Group, your role demands strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, complemented by excellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms. Your analytical prowess enables you to make data-driven decisions and tackle complex problems with ease. These qualities empower you to effectively lead the sales team, foster positive relationships with clients, and devise strategic plans for maximizing sales and achieving long-term growth.

Job requirements:

  • Completed a commercial or food technology Bachelor or Master education
  • At least 8 years of experience in an international commercial position (experience and education may be interchangeable)
  • Relevant knowledge of ingredients and specialty-chemical markets
  • Excellent command of English and Spanish
