Our client is an independently owned, dynamic company. A global supplier of commodity and specialty chemical products to a wide range of industries, such as the paint, coatings, inks, resin, textile, adhesives, construction, and plastics industry.

The position

Sales job in the (petro) chemicals industry for a senior who likes to join a growing and ambitious global supplier of commodity and specialty chemical products to a wide range of industries.

Tasks & responsibilities

This role will have overall sales responsibility for the Benelux, France, Italy, and Greece regions, leading on all aspects of sales for these regions.
Supporting the Global Sales Director by contributing to the development of the global sales, marketing and public relations strategy which will then feed into the company’s 3-5 year strategic business plan to realise the company’s growth ambitions.

Contributing to the sales, marketing and public relations annual operations planning cycle for the relevant regions and supporting the delivery of the agreed activities. Also contributing to the rolling four monthly reforecast cycle for the relevant regions, revising sales plans accordingly to support the achievement of the annual plan.

Owning and achieving key account sales targets for the relevant regions, achieving sustained profitable sales across the markets. Specifically:

  • Implementing and delivering an annual sales plan for the relevant regions.
  • Supporting the broader sales team to deliver and exceed set target volumes/margins.
  • Building effective sales and account management processes.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and expanding the customer base within the relevant regions.
  • Proactively building effective and enduring customer partnerships within the relevant regions.
  • Visiting customers on a regular basis to ensure all targets and objectives are met.
  • Producing an accurate and deliverable monthly sales forecast for the relevant regions.

Continually seeking new business opportunities to grow the product portfolio in line with customer/market opportunities and to build volumes and contracts with every customer. Working with colleagues to support the development of new product lines which can be converted into new leads.

Supporting the negotiation and execution of master customer, marketing and public relations contracts and other critical agreements for the relevant regions ensuring that the company’s interests are protected and that the terms are legally compliant.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced sales professional in the petrochemical/ chemical commodities market.

  • A proven track record of achieving and exceeding global sales targets.
  • Demonstrable sales experience within the chemical industry. Selling into Coatings, Paints, Adhesives and Associated applications, for Monomers including Acrylates, Methacrylates, VAM, Veova, styrene, Speciality Methacrylates.
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative.
  • Outstanding relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle difficult situations/conflict with empathy.
  • Able to work well in a team but also comfortable to work alone (including travelling and visiting customers).
  • Experience in and understanding of administered formula contracts including feedstock and market elements.
  • Based in the EU.
  • Fluency in English and preferably other languages.

Package is dependent on the candidate’s level of skills and experience. In line with a senior manager in the petrochemical industry.
