The position

Secure the negotiating and the concluding of contracts and (frame)agreements against the best terms and conditions for the company, which includes a.o.: In co-operation with internal customers defining companies purchasing needs, for the short and long-terms, and advising and inform internal customers about possibilities and alternatives Negotiating, within the current authorisation procedure, for prices, technical aspects, terms & conditions etc. Clarifying, and limiting financial and legal risks Safeguarding companies its specific know-howSecuring a proper registration of all relevant contract/(frame)agreement and commitment information.

Buyer is authorised to execute independent - in co-operation with unit head (or senior Buyer) and internal customers - all activities within his/her own area, as described in job tasks, considering Allseas company policies, guidelines, year plans and budgets.

He/she is hold to the current authorisation procedures and will not act outside his/her competence and scope unless his/her superior gives permission to do otherwise.

Reports to the relevant unit head Procurement or senior buyer (differs per unit).

Tasks & Responsibilities

Ensures that the unit (and subsequently the department procurement) provide the best possible service to support the company, tenders and projects in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the contract and to work in the most efficient way.

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity’s relating to the product, process and corporate management system
  • Liase with requisitioners on materials and services required
  • Issue enquiries and evaluate quotations
  • Negotiate, place and expedite orders
  • Co-ordinate and request transport via responsible unit
  • Ensure timely receipt of documents and certificates
  • Verify and approves invoices
  • Liase with yard(s) on outgoing and incoming materials
  • Liases with relevant parties to provide an efficient customer delivery service
  • Liases with internal customers and with colleagues on the procurement department  to maintain adequate stock levels and makes recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve quality
  • Controlling follow-up of purchase contracts and scheduled deliveries
  • Anticipate and/or assist with implementing new systems that enhance the effectiveness of the procurement, including office automation systems, cost control procedures etc
  • Issue personal timesheets in RTR/Solo on a weekly basis
  • Ensure that the validity is maintained of passport, seaman booklet, offshore survival certification and medical certification

  • Analysing the supplier market (structures, market shares, prices, technology, products, etc)
  • Planning & reporting
  • Supporting projects
  • Keep within the budget of the department
  • Report progress and results

Control:

  • Assist in providing info for prices, terms & conditions
  • Purchasing marketing
  • Assist in providing information for following, analysing and interpreting technological, economical and financial developments
  • Quality, safety, environment & health
  • Following procedures and regulations for Quality, Safety, Environment & Health

Candidate profile

  • NEVI 1/2
  • At least 2 years of relevant purchasing experience in an offshore or shipbuilding /industrial environment
  • General technical knowledge
  • Sound knowledge of the goods or the industry and professional qualification are required
  • A comprehensive experience in purchasing techniques and contracting is required
  • English language, fluently written and spoken
  • The numbers of years experience determines the seniority of this position
  • Communication and commercial skills
  • Excellent calculator, feeling for figures
  • Accurate

  • Able to take initiatives
  • Team player by all means
  • Excellent negotiation and contracting skills
