Operations Manager

The organisation

Our client Deep Branch is a carbon recycling biotechnology company. They use microbes to convert carbon dioxide from industrial emissions into high-value products. They are a fast-growing company and agile startup with activities in both the UK and the Netherlands. Their main focus is to increase the sustainability of animal farming and broader concerns regarding the reduction of emissions.

The position

We are looking to find an Operations Manager that will lead and scale the pilot plant facility and prove the concept of the technology platform. The main focus in this role is to run and develop the pilot plant while creating a best-in-class operational framework. Responsibilities include driving rapid prototyping in Pilot, informing the organisation's future factories on operating and staffing requirements, working together with Strain Development and Process Development for tech transfer and process improvement, knowledge transfer during scale-up of the technology to manufacturing scale, ensuring the efficient production of samples for customers with in-time delivery of right quality. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement and ensure EHS and quality compliance.

Candidate profile

To be successful in this role, you have/are:

• MEng or equivalent in chemical/ biotechnology/ process engineering;
• >10 years of experience in an operational environment within the process industry;
• > 5 years experience in a managerial operational role;
• Extensive experience with biotechnological products and processes.
