The position

The National Office Director is responsible for the execution of the strategy of Deerns Belgium to realize the short and long term goals of the National Office concerning consultancy services, market share and financial results.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • General Management
    • Managing the day to day operations of Deerns Belgium
    • Contributes from his/her own office perspective in decision making and strategy defining by the Group Executive Board on short and long term goals 
    • Contributes in decision making concerning cooperation between the office and institutes, organizations, companies, and possibilities of expanding the consultancy services 
    • Participate in the International Management Team of Deerns Group, being responsible for the execution of the Deerns Group Strategy and Business Plan
  • Office Management
    • Translates the business plan of Deerns Belgium into the day to day operations 
    • Takes appropriate actions when the National Office is deviating from the business plan
    • Is responsible for reporting the results of Deerns Belgium to the Group Executive Board
  • Business Development and Sales
    • Responsible for sales and project acquisition for Deerns Belgium
    • Setup a sales team with clear roles & responsibilities
    • With the sales team:
      • Develop a business development plan to achieve (with the Group Executive Board) agreed targets 
      • Develop and maintain a network of business contacts and a sales pipeline
      • Develop opportunities, proposals, and acquire contracts 
  • Staff and Organization 
    • Responsible for the recruitment process of new staff members
    • Defines the quantitative and qualitative strength of the staff members in the Belgium office(s)
    • Coordinates the hiring of temporary staff when necessary
    • Ensures adequate deployment of staff, targeting their individual development and optimal project involvement 
    • Facilitates the staff with resources and knowledge, necessary for the execution of their work
    • Stimulates and motivates the staff and encourages the team spirit and cooperation
    • Has periodically evaluation meetings with staff members and measure their performance in an effective way
    • Ensures within the agreed guidelines a consistent remuneration policy for the staff in the office in line with their contribution to the results and their individual development in their positions
    • Initiates and monitors the realization of the necessary education and training of the staff 
  • Project management
    • Manages the overall distribution of projects to project managers within the office
    • Ensures that sufficient project delivery resources are in place to suit office workload.
    • Facilitates the work of the project managers (and technical directors and general staff members) in such a way that they have the equipment and resources needed
    • Monitors overall status in terms of financial performance, quality and Client relationships of all projects within the office.
  • Administrative/ reporting
    • Responsible for ensuring appropriate invoicing of fees with the clients
    • Discusses with the financial controller the progress and results of each project, the total results of the office and the differences between the planning and the realization
    • Monitors the documentation of design information and project progress information
  • Quality 
    • Ensures that quality systems are implemented across all projects
    • Performs project evaluations and lessons learned with the project team members
  • Knowledge Development
    • Continues to develops his own knowledge level, on a technical as well as on managerial perspective, by taking specific courses and studies after approval of the Group Executive Board

Candidate profile

  • Theoretical and practical technical knowledge on master level in high technology type environments
  • Experienced in managing and coordinating the development of staff, in individual as well as group context
  • Commercial and financial skills
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within project delivery
  • Extensive knowledge of quality requirements, internal demands of the office itself as well as the requirements of external parties
  • Full professional proficiency of the English, Flemish and French language
  • Excellent communication skills , both verbal and written.
  • Acting according the Deerns Corporate Values (“CEDRIC”)
  • Being transparent and open and integer to all parties involved (Group Executive Board, staff members, customers, business partners)
