The organisation

On behalf of our client - a leading retailer - we are seeking a Director Marketplace & E-Commerce. A newly created role, in which you develop the business case for the marketplace operations for the Benelux region.

The position

With this new marketplace our client has the aim to bring their sales, profitability and market share to a higher level in the region.

In this role the main goal is to set up a new (lean) team for marketplace operations, whereby you and your team will jointly ensure that customers are triggered to make purchases that meet their wishes and needs via the new marketplace. Together you will successfully implement the marketplace within the organisation. And since this is a new concept for our client in The Benelux, it is extremely important to involve all the internal stakeholders and to be able to convince them of this new concept.?

An exciting opportunity for a professional who is seeking to build a new initiative within an established (international) organisation. Our client is seeking a strategically strong, entrepreneurial professional with a can-do and hands-on mentality.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • You are responsible for determining the strategy of the Marketplace in line with the strategy of the Benelux organisation
  • Accountable for the development and implementation of all (national) Marketplace related topics in line with the strategy and customer needs
  • Set up a new Marketplace Operations team, clustered in three streams Partner Management, Seller Support and Content Management
  • Taking care of the optimal customer journey in which, our customers are inspired to make their purchase
  • Determining the team goals and ensuring that these are achieved by the team in place
  • There are many legal restrictions and regulations according to European law (e.g., limited data sharing to internal stake holder). It is important that you are aware of this and manage these topics in corporation with the Legal departments
  • Closely interact with key (international) stakeholders, align with them, convince them of your views and exchange best practices
  • Have the ability to manage ad-hoc requests from the board of the Benelux and marketplace unit at HQ.

Candidate profile

  • You are in possession of an HBO or WO degree; in the direction of Business Administration or Economics is an advantage
  • Relevant work experience in e-commerce, marketing or sales and are familiar with the digital experience of retail
  • Strategic thinking, strong analytic skills and you are solution and performance oriented
  • Strong insight into marketplaces activities and experience with marketplace platforms and services
  • Excellent knowledge of omni-channel strategy, e-commerce and marketplace economy
  • A track record of successfully managing a new initiative - strategically strong with a hands-on mentality
  • Experience with managing a team and talent management
  • Commercially and financially strong - with outstanding stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written
