The organisation

AxFlow BV is a leading sales, engineering and service organization which has specialized in selling high quality special pumps, dosing equipment, mixers and complete installations. AxFlow BV was founded in 1960 and is the sales office of the AxFlow organization in the Netherlands and Flanders.

They strive for a long-term cooperation and would like to form the "technical bridge" between their installation and the products of the leading manufacturers that AxFlow represents in Flanders and the Netherlands. Backed by over 60 years of operating experience, AxFlow represent the largest PD pump portfolio for the process industry.

The office sales are coordinated from Lelystad, with the field service being divided into regions and split across the Dutch and Flemish AxFlow regional managers. AxFlow Systems BV has over 45 years’ experience in engineering total solutions in all market segments from compact mobile pump units to complex, extremely advanced and pioneering production systems. AxFlow BV has been part of the AxFlow Group since 1989.

AxFlow Systems is the engineering 'Center of Excellence' of the AxFlow Group, located in Lelystad (NL). With more than 45 years of experience as a system builder of complete installations, they are the partner in providing total solutions.

AxFlow Service is the AxFlow organization's own service department. This division provides maintenance, repair and installation work throughout the Netherlands, Flanders and at offshore locations. They have our own team of VCA certified, factory trained Service Engineers and a fully equipped service office in Lelystad (NL).

From the European Distribution Center in Lelystad (NL), AxFlow supplies 95% of the A and B products directly from stock. The products are delivered within 24 hours in almost all AxFlow countries. The customer also benefits from very competitive product prices, thanks to the economies of scale of AxFlow's pan-European purchasing. This is a group company with a separate Managing Director serving the AxFlow Group.

The position

The new Managing Director will continue to build further on the existing client portfolio, increase and develop its client base in the BeNe territory. He/she will design and execute the company’s short-mid-long term strategy, identify new sales opportunities, increase market shares and profitability (full P&L responsibility). Main objectives and duties in this role include:

  • Leadership and strategic management full Profit & Loss, revenues / cost responsibility for Axflow Netherlands
  • Assure compliance with the vision, mission, values and policies of the Axflow Holding
  • Assure compliance with local laws, statutes and employment contracts
  • Assure compliance with relevant regulations and directives of the Axflow Holding
  • Assure compliance with the Sales and Marketing strategy of the Netherlands

The Managing Director manages a team of 60 employees. The Managing Director reports to the CEO of Axflow Holding.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • The Managing Director bears responsibility for profit and loss in the business activities of the subsidiary;
  • Makes sure that the strategy is in line with the Marketing and Sales Strategy of Europe;
  • Responsible for the fulfilment of annual plans and ensure success of the operation of the company. Report as required by AxFlow Holding on performance and forecast;
  • Establish the company identity and associated brand awareness;
  • Establish market opportunities and coordinate the consequential marketing plan and manage the activities thereof;
  • Ensure the establishment of the foundation of activities to meet a strategy plan that covers all operational and business possibilities (3-year strategy planning);
  • Conduct market surveys to identify market trends, activities to facilitate benchmarking and to develop strategies to counter competitive activity that could impact AxFlow's market position;
  • Ensure the establishment of a professional culture;
  • Draws up for the subsidiary an overall budget;
  • Draws up the necessary monthly, quarterly and annual final accounts;
  • Provide leadership of employees (selection, training, management, remuneration and dismissal).

Candidate profile

  • A combined engineering and finance/marketing degree at university level or equal (Master degree is wished but not a killer criterion if a proven record of success in a similar position is given).
  • Several years experience in a senior management role preferably in a technical company;
  • Experience from working with or within the process industry (chemical, food, petrochemical, pharma) is an advantage;
  • A mature personality with strong leadership skills and a strong drive;
  • A developer rather than a 'maintainer';
  • Excellent communication skills, good at setting up priorities, and intellectual flexibility (the ability to work operationally, tactically and strategically) are required;
  • Strong drive for results up against agreed targets;
  • A team player that understands the necessity for sharing knowledge;
  • Fluent in Dutch, English and German language is a plus;
  • Excellent commercial leadership skills, charismatic and decisive;
  • Client solution oriented and positive attitude;
  • Motivational and problem-solving skills;
  • Dynamic and highly reliable;
  • Analytical and well organized;
  • Diplomacy towards internal and external clients;
  • Ability to create added value through customer insights and their technical business process;
  • Ability to combine and balance company’s business objectives with client’s needs;
  • Able to think out of the box (innovative);
  • Entrepreneurial in thought and deed;
