The position

The Manager Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality (EHS/Q), serves as a key leader with responsibility for environmental, safety and health strategies, policies, standards, compliance, and management initiatives with a primary role in The Netherlands and Belgium.

The manager is a leader and catalyst for driving towards this vision in the region and the enterprise. The manager is further responsible for ensuring continual improvement in program compliance and enterprise thinking requiring continued change management leadership and the commitment to creating a heightened consciousness across the region to embed these priorities into the company culture and working with these teams to develop and implement appropriate processes and systems.

The manager is a member of the EHS regional leadership team and participates in the review and implementation of strategy and direction for the region.  

The position reports directly to the EMEA Director of Environment, Health, and Safety and dotted line to the Benelux MD. 

Tasks & responsibilities

Strategic:

  • Responsible for providing regional input into EHS and Quality strategy and policy and leading one or more key enterprises projects
  • Leading team of dedicated EHS / Quality professionals with responsibility for talent development and mentoring related to technical expertise of EHS/Quality staff, leadership development, and strategic thinking through training programs, coaching and feedback processes, and experiential opportunities
  • Fully understands the regional business and strategies in order to conceptualize, recommend and implement business processes that ensure alignment with the EHS/Quality strategy
  • Responsible for ensuring EHS/Quality culture engagement efforts are supported, implemented and aligned with the business strategies
  • Develop new programs to motivate the entire workforce to participate and engage on the EHS/quality strategy
  • Ensure enterprise EHS/quality strategies and programs are implemented within the region
  • Provide visibility of safety, health, and environmental progress, performance, and issues to the business leadership team
  • Implement standards for protection of the public and the environment in the communities where the company operates
  • In conjunction with the fleet organization, lead the driver safety efforts for the region
  • Work to foster an atmosphere of openness and information sharing in order to encourage a culture of high awareness, transparency and diligence with respect to safety and health matters amongst the EHS/quality team and the broader business

Operational

  • Provide leadership and direction to operational leaders and the EHS staff for the continuous improvement of EHS programs, including but not limited to the core management system, incident investigation, reporting, risk management, training and driver safety
  • Provide leadership and direction to operational leaders and the Quality staff for the continuous improvement of Quality programs, including but not limited to the customer complaint management, certification management, installation and service quality
  • Direct the continued development, implementation, and management of appropriate tools, systems, monitoring and reporting procedures
  • Identify and deploy innovative technologies and best practices across the region
  • Quantify and measure progress on environmental and safety performance, and employee well-being
  • Recognize EHS/quality issues with region-wide implications (e.g., regulatory developments) and implement appropriate solutions that apply to the region
  • Ensure continuing maintenance of relevant quality programs and certifications

Experience

  • Proven capability leading and managing comprehensive EHS/quality, driver safety, and culture engagement programs in a relevant, multinational service environment and experience with armed guarding operations.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in EHS/quality with at least 3 in a management role; a Bachelor degree in safety management, engineering, or related field with a Master degree preferred.
  • Broad experience in relevant markets.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, collaboration and coaching/training, motivational, communications, influencing, negotiating and selling skills at all levels.
  • An excellent understanding of laws, regulations and governance requirements that relate to EHS and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed, team oriented environment.
  • A capacity for travel and a desire to engage frequently with field-based organizations around the region and key corporate teams.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English
