The organisation

Sun Test Systems has been developing, building and supplying complex, innovative and high-quality test equipment and related services for the aerospace and automotive industry since 1931. Through their many years of experience and long-term cooperation with the German and UK Ministries of Defence, Sun Test Systems has a detailed understanding of their customer’s needs.

This understanding in combination with high-level engineering is why Sun Test System's products distinguish themselves through their universal application, reliability and performance.

Sun Test Systems has a new and modern office and production facility in Weesp and employs 70 people. Their equipment includes:

  • Mobile hydraulic and/or multifunctional test equipment for testing and supporting the military and civil aircraft systems
  • Static test stands for testing military and civil aircraft components
  • End of line test equipment for the production lines of private cars and trucks

The position

You will lead the Engineering department comprising 20 engineers (MSc/BSc) in the field of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, system engineering and software engineering. You will be responsible for the strategy and execution of R&D and product development and order engineering according to AS9100 standards. You will support the company's commercial activities and are a member of the management team.

Specific areas of interest are:

  • Employee, organisational and process development.
  • Configuration, documentation and product and change management.
  • From 'engineering to order' to 'configure to order'.
  • From internal to an external focus, including the field of new technologies.
  • From functional to multidisciplinary team.
  • LEAN implementation.

Candidate profile

  • BSc/MSc degree, preferably in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with R&D and product development.
  • Strong leader with good communication skills across different levels.
  • Strong persuasion, influencing and negotiating and skills.
  • Good command of the English language. Dutch and German are beneficial.
  • Residing in the Netherlands or willing to relocate.
