Our client is one of the leading companies in the world of specialty chemicals. 

The position

In a leadership capacity, you will act as the strategic business player, and be fully participating in the establishment of the global business strategy. You will be accountable for one of the business line's Supply Chain organisation comprising various product lines located at different sites in Europe, North & South America and Asia. As a key member of the leadership team, you will contribute to the company short term and long term strategic direction and act as a role model to deliver company values. You need to provide active and hands-on coaching and monitoring of your team to excel in the full spectrum of activities. 

Tasks & responsibilities

Reporting to the VP, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an organisation wide and integrated supply chain strategy.
  • Merge existing Supply Chain organisations into one.
  • Lead the global Supply Chain organisation. 
  • Oversee the implementation and roll out of a new ERP.
  • Provide strategic cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality and Research & Development to ensure team alignment and execute strategic planning initiatives.
  • Lead, direct, and control all supply chain policies, procedures, and activities to maximise the efficiency, reliability, timeliness, and cost effectiveness of the organisation’s supply chain.

Candidate profile

  • Master’s degree in a chemistry, engineering or material science. Advanced degree (MBA) preferred.
  • 10+ years progressive supply chain management experience, preferably in the chemicals, automotive, aerospace or high-tech industry.
  • Practiced in managing teams of 5+ people.
  • Proven experience in operational excellence and continuous improvement with tangible results. Knowledge of lean. Green or black belt would be beneficial.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Residing in the Netherlands or willing to relocate.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Determination for change, continuous improvement and operational excellence. Resilient drive to further professionalize the organisation to improve performance.
  • Strategic helicopter view with long term vision on how supply chain should be managed.
  • Analytical thinker that is able to get to the core of an issue. Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator that is able to persuade and influence customers and colleagues.
  • Involved, people-oriented team player with drive to develop his/her team.
  • Able to function well in demanding environments and changing situations. Remains calm and composed.
  • Results driven and solutions oriented.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity and diplomacy skills.
