Hays Executive is recruiting a General Manager Product Support & Spare Parts for our client Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME) for location Amsterdam and Oosterhout. Hitachi produces a wide range of hydraulic excavators in the world, ranging from one-ton minis to 800 tons mining excavators. Every single model delivers a smooth and productive performance, and is comfortable, safe and reliable. In addition to excavators, HCME also supplies wheel loaders, rigid dump trucks and other construction equipment for special applications. All Hitachi products are renowned for high quality, advanced technology and reliability. You will report to the Director Business Development and Value Creation Division. 

The position

As a General Manager Product Support & Spare Parts you will execute the policies as laid down by the Director Business Development and Value Creation and looking after the activities of the Parts and Product Support Departments. Final goal is to achieve the aftermarket objectives and strategy of the company. 

Tasks & responsibilities

Your goal as a General Manager Product Support & Spare Parts is to achieve the objectives and strategy of the company with regards to the Product Support and Spare Parts departments. You are part of the Business Development & Value Creation division that focusses on the entire value chain being rental, used equipment, service and spare parts next to the development of our next generation construction equipment. You are responsible for the day to day operation and ensure that all departments operate within the agreed budget and to achieve agreed targets. 

Furthermore you improve and create departmental policies to enhance efficiencies and to fulfill and improve Hitachi international standards. In cooperation with HCM and other parts depots you roll out current global distribution models and work on further enhancements and develop new distribution methods to internal & external clients, in order to reduce the stock level with best availability and minimum transportation cost. You help to improve the performance of Hitachi machines by clear and timely communication of technical issues and warranty claims to HCM and develop new service tools and service packages based on dealers and end user’s requirements in close cooperation with HCM Japan. 

On top of the above you are responsible for the budget and business plan and manage the profitability and maximize efficiency. You communicate within the department about the yearly targets, responsabilities and duties of the business unit. You have the final responsibility for the after sales activities in HCME’s assigned territory. Further improving, customer satisfaction and defining best support packages based on dealers and customers requirements are an important aspect in your function. 
You motivate and drive the division towards achieving set targets, giving structural feedback to managers and pro-actively informing the Divisional Director on Business Unit progress and result achievements. 

Candidate profile

The right candidate has minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role as a General Manager with proven experience in a B2B environment on capital goods in an aftersales position with a P&L responsibility. You have a graduate caliber with a business or related degree in a technical direction and preferably you worked in an international environment with a (independent) dealer channel. Work experience in a Japanese or Asian culture is an asset. You will travel approximately 20% visiting dealers in mainly Europe other HCM subsidiaries around the world, mainly in Japan and Asia. 

As a person you have a clear vision and strategy, are result driven and are willing and able to drive performance, improve revenue and build the business. You take initiatives and are good at implementing changes. Open, transparent, solution-oriented and decisive are words that describe you. You are able to engage, motivate and enthuse staff. Further, you have excellent verbal and presentation skills and speak fluently business English. Any other European Language is an asset.
