The organisation

Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialty adhesives, sealants and tapes for construction, transportation and industrial applications. Globally operating in over 80 countries, the company is headquartered in the US. In order to further develop and grow their sales activities in Europe, we are looking for a European Regional Manager to be based in the Benelux (Home Office).

The position

The Position of European Regional Manager will be responsible for further developing and growing the sales of targeted Commercial Roofing technologies throughout Europe. In addition to the direct selling efforts, the European Regional Manager will spend time obtaining systems approval for the company with various roofing systems and insulation manufacturers throughout the region.

The European Regional Manager will work closely with the International Sales Manager to evaluate the overall market potential, develop a comprehensive strategy for successful introduction and growth of the company's Commercial Roofing Products in Europe, and target the highest priority selling activities. The European Regional Manager will manage, motivate and develop the Technical Sales Representative, who works from a home office in Belgium. As the business grows, the European Regional Manager will further extend the team by adding talented sales and service personnel to support the ongoing growth.

The European Regional Manager will directly report to the International Sales Manager as well as the Business Manager Roofing, who are both based in the US.

Frequent travel foremost within the EMEA region and occasionally to the US will be required.

Candidate profile

Background

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or similar.
  • At least 8-10 years of progressive international commercial working experience, out of which a minimum of 2 years of experience in sales in the commercial roofing (preferred), construction or adhesives industry. Candidates without experience in these areas will not be considered.
  • Business manager with proven experience in developing and organizing sales also via partners and distributors (outstanding track record, high quality achievements).
  • Profound understanding of sales processes and the ability to think out-of-the box to sell through obstacles.
  • Network and strong market know how of the roofing and construction industry in the Benelux and in Europe.
  • Experience managing a small team spread over various locations is considered as a strong plus.
  • Good physical condition as jobsite/rooftop visitations are required (this entails climbing ladders and accessing roofs with difficult access. The physical ability to lift 25kg+ is a must for the job.
  • Proficiency in English is required, additional proficiency in Dutch and ideally another European language is considered a strong plus.

  • Strong business acumen, mature and convincing personality.
  • Entrepreneurial, hands on sales manager with a dynamic approach and assertiveness who is able to handle also unforeseen events.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Positive attitude and the drive to be an agent-of-change in the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills while at the same time working efficiently on the operational level.
  • A true networker both internally as well as with external stakeholders.
