The organisation

Our client is an internationally-leading company within the industry sector. With global production and operations locations, the company also has a Dutch-based office.

The position

For the Dutch location (in the area of the South-Holland province) we are recruiting on an exclusive basis a Commercial Director EMEA - Industry.

Tasks & responsibilities

In this role you are setting and delivering a commercial strategy and profitability of a certain portfolio of specialty products on an EMEA international level. With your broad market and business understanding, you are able to think strategically and operationally, to spot possibilities in the market and together with your team to bring the commercial activity of the company on the next level through delivering customer-oriented solutions.

In this role you manage a team of direct reports and report yourself to the General Manager of the company. You are based in the Netherlands (Zuid-Holland) area with +/-30% international travel - mainly in the EMEA region.

Next to this you are responsible for:

  • Building, managing and executing long-term strategic plan (up to 10 years)
  • Bringing results through managing complex sales processes
  • Key account management in several cases where key for the business clients and strategic accounts are involved
  • Managing a team of sales professionals, among which: customer service, inside, outside sales, market developers
  • Setting an example as a natural leader, coaching and developing commercial professionals
  • Understanding and successful use of financial tools (for margin and cash management)
  • Maximising value and growth

Candidate profile

  • 10+ years of sales experience - ideally in complex, consultative sales
  • 5+ years of management experience (managing direct reports)
  • Ideally experience in the industry sector (B2B) for example: manufacturing, chemical, automotive sectors
  • Fluency in Dutch and English (other languages are advantageous)
  • Strong commercial track-record
  • SAP experience is a big plus
  • Affinity with complex consultative-sales
