Dedicated (international) Legal Counsel

The position

The job entails the provision of a full range of Legal services of operations and staff functions throughout Western and Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA). The Legal department acts as a service post to all areas of the business and is responsible for all Legal matters ranging from contractual to intellectual property rights, always with an international prospective. They may work on enterprise wide issues or day to day business transactions essential to keep the company operating smoothly. The Legal Counsel acts also as a coordinator for outside counsels. The Legal department consists of two senior counsels, one paralegal and one administrative assistant. The Legal Counsel operates from the EMEA headquarters in Leiden and will report to the Senior Counsel and Head of the Materials Group Legal Department for Europe, Middle East and Africa. The position calls for some travel mainly throughout EMEA but also to the U.S.A.

Candidate profile

• A graduate law degree (Dutch law is not mandatory)
• 5-10 years legal working experience in an international environment
• Ample experience in negotiating and drafting (commercial) contracts
• Business sense and service oriented
• Dedicated and critical personality with drive
• Fluent in English (speech and writing)
