The organisation

Our client is a global pharmacy-led, health and wellbeing enterprise, which operates in the entire pharmaceutical chain.

The position

The Commercial Director develops, formulates and executes the commercial strategy for the Business Unit Wholesale/Pharmacy Services i.e. for its different channels and realises growth of sales, margin and market share for wholesale, to achieve the business objectives of the organisation.

He/she strengthens the market- and competitive position of the Business Unit and will be developing and managing the strategic marketing approach of Wholesale/Pharmacy Services in line with the strategic business objectives. He also will be strengthening value creation for customers.

The Commercial Director is Profit & Loss responsible for the Business Unit Wholesale /Pharmacy Services with a total revenue stream of €850 million and approximately 100 employees. He reports directly to the Managing Director of the Dutch organization.

Candidate profile

For this unique senior management position we are looking for an ambitious top business leader with strong commercial skills and affinity with healthcare. You proved to be able to perform in a corporate business environment as well as in a challenger’s role. The role requires commercial experience in a highly complex, rapidly changing environment (business to business).

You are able to develop a clear vision and strategy about (achieving) ambitious goals. It also requires experience with managing multi-channel businesses. Further you have an approachable, open and strong personality and an international scope. You have the potential as well as the ambition to further develop as a business leader/general manager/managing director.

Other relevant experiences:

  • Master-level in working and thinking
  • Strong business sense
  • More than ten years of experience in commercial and/or marketing and management role
  • Strong commercial experience with managing multi-channel businesses
  • Above average speed and power of understanding
  • Political savvy, strong power to influence/impact
  • Strategist with a strong hands-on mentality
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry and/or health care is an advantage
  • Excellent in Dutch and English language
