Founded in 1992, the N+P Group has specialised in the production and supply of waste derived alternative materials for various industries. Thanks to N+P's extensive knowledge and experience, many industries are benefiting from the materials N+P produces and or supplies. N+P is one of the most innovative and pioneering companies in the field of waste derived alternative fuel production and supply, and is leading the way to new concepts to substitute fossil fuels with non-recyclable paper and plastic waste fractions. In this way, our clients are able to massively save on their production costs and CO2 emissions. Since its founding N+P has also worked on supplying alternative raw materials, substituting primary materials and contributing to cheaper and cleaner production processes.

The position

The Chief Operational Officer (“COO”) will be responsible for all aspects of the company's operations at all production sites in Europe. Moreover, in this role and as a member of the Executive Committee, the COO will participate in the development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices in order to drive expansion of production capacity and ensure industry standards are exceeded.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Championing a culture of continuous improvement and drive best practices.
  • Utilising Lean Manufacturing tactics to include Kaizen, SMED, Six Sigma, DFMA, and KPI tools to identify, scope and implement processes, technologies, and systems to continuously improve product and service quality as well as operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Utilising KPIs to monitor, adjust, reward, and optimise N+P’s performance.
  • Working closely with R&D to optimise current formulations and new product introductions.
  • Building, developing, and leading a highly motivated and world-class team to achieve the goals of N+P’s manufacturing initiatives
  • Developing and executing annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Identifying, communicating, and driving implementations of capital investments and improvement projects.
  • Ensuring departmental decisions and project plans are in line with N+P’s business strategy and plan.
  • Developing and maintaining a full understanding of emerging technologies in manufacturing and competitor core competencies to ensure continued N+P leadership and success.
  • Providing successful leadership and positive team member relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development.
  • Building, developing and managing an operations leadership team capable of carrying out needed operational strategies.
  • Ensuring that processes and facilities meet all environmental health & safety codes, regulations, and company policies.
  • Keeping equipment operational by implementing and executing a preventative maintenance programs.
  • Closely aligning with the CFO on investments, budgeting, planning processes, setting up joint-ventures and M&A processes.
  • Enhancing performance and financial success by setting up clear targets and increasing volumes and margins with operational businesses.
  • Supporting growth strategies by fostering core- and implementing complimentary businesses.
  • Build and manage a world-class team united by N+P’s values.

Candidate profile

  • Successful senior operations management experience in large multi-product manufacturing and distribution environments, preferably within the recycling/waste trading/alternative fuel industry.
  • Passionate about being a senior leader at a small company that is redefining energy access and a strong desire to contribute to a cleaner environment and fossil-free world.
  • Experienced in leading greenfield/brownfield production facilities worldwide.
  • Strong track record of managing and growing multinational teams, establishing systems and KPIs, and driving both revenue and profitability.
  • Master’s degree in a technical subject is preferred.
  • Extensive experience leading Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean manufacturing initiatives in full-scale manufacturing environments. Certifications are a plus.
  • A sense of urgency in driving projects and desire to set ambitious goals and work aggressively to meet project schedules, utilising the latest project management tools and techniques.
  • Awareness of tactical demands from different group functions and well versed in (international) stakeholder management.
  • Proficient in the English language. A good command of Dutch and other European languages is beneficial.
  • Hybrid working: 3 d/w HQ, other days remote.
