This role exists to make sure the first path is taken.

The position

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to serve as the operational and commercial anchor for the next phase of growth.

This is not a “keep the lights on” role. It is a hands-on, high-trust position for someone who has lived through scale - who understands how messy and consequential this phase can be, and knows how to bring clarity without killing momentum.

As the CEO’s closest partner and second-in-command, you will turn ambition into execution, ensure customers succeed at scale, and make sure the organization grows up without losing what made it successful. You will create clarity on the end-game, the path to get there, and hold the organization accountable for delivering it.

Tasks & responsibilities

What You’ll Own

  • Build and run a scalable operating model that brings structure, rhythm, and accountability without bureaucracy.
  • Translate strategy into execution through clear priorities, ownership, KPIs, and performance cadence.
  • Own operational excellence across the full customer lifecycle, with a strong focus on retention, expansion, and long-term value.
  • Partner closely with commercial and customer-facing teams to ensure delivery keeps pace with growth.
  • Step in decisively when things break or escalate, leading through ambiguity with calm and clarity.
  • Align leaders and teams across functions, breaking silos and challenging assumptions when needed.
  • Hire, develop, and retain leaders who can scale, while preserving the company’s original drive and pragmatism.

What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)

  • A clear operating framework with meaningful KPIs across core functions.
  • Leadership teams are aligned, accountable, and executing against shared priorities.
  • Customer success functions as a scalable, predictable engine.
  • Faster decisions, cleaner execution, and fewer self-inflicted operational issues.
  • A clear shift from “fragile growth” to “built to scale.”

Candidate profile

Essential

  • 10+ years in senior operational leadership roles (COO strongly preferred) within scaling or high-growth organizations in the eCommerce (or adjacent) industry.
  • Direct experience navigating the “in-between” phase where growth outpaces structure.
  • Strong commercial mindset, with ownership or deep involvement in customer success and retention with large and complex B2B clients.
  • Proven ability to introduce discipline without slowing execution.
  • Comfortable holding peers accountable and making tough trade-offs.
  • Experience scaling across markets or geographies.
  • Clear understanding of how Operations, Customer Success, Tech, Product Development and Revenue are interconnected.
