The organisation

Our client manufactures and sells printing presses and is recognized throughout the industry as a leading manufacturer and premium brand. The full European Operations (about 140 FTE) are led by a cross-country leadership team, with headquarters based in Utrecht (NL). The European teams (direct sales, sales back office, services, spare parts operations and business development / product marketing) service clients in the full European/EMEA market.

The position

The Group Director of Service and Technical Teams is responsible and accountable for the development and delivery of service activities and technical expertise (instalments, upgrades, repairs, consumables and service contracts) of the EMEA operations.

Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, and guided by the vision, mission and core values of the global organisation, the Group Director provides the strategy, leadership, management and operational controls to ensure that service is excellent, pro-active, efficient and brings in an economical and brand impact to prospects and clients.

Candidate profile

  • Advanced degree in engineering or technical management
  • At least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in managing cross-cultural European service teams
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the industrial machinery sector, preferably within the capital press equipment, repair and services sector
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic and annual plans and budgets across business units and projects
  • Broad experience in result oriented, day to day operational management, financial planning, management and controls in a European distributed organisation / company
  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation as well as interperonsal and influencing skills and capcity to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven leadership skills with excellent capacity to manage human and financial resources
  • IT savvy, able to strategically decide on IT investments fitting and supporting organisational goals and needs
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English, any additional knowledge of Dutch, French or Japanese are nice-to-haves
  • High level of personal energy, commitment, entrepreneurial flair and ability to bring team members to outstanding performance
  • Strong motivation to work in a flexible and agile medium sized organization with global reach and ambitious targets
