Position

The position will be based in Dubai and is a senior role within the organisation. 

The salary range will be between 420,000 to 600,000 UAE Dhs (60/40) with housing, schooling and car allowance also available.

MTN is the largest customer in SSA with multiple operations spanning the African continent and the Middle East:

  • There are 16 operations scattered around 16 counties.
  • There are 6 Account Managers who will continue to report into Sales Managers but have a dotted line into the MTN Global Account Executive.
  • The role requires a strong character and someone who can communicate at the CEO/CIO level.
  • The role requires a split personality in terms of dealing with the Procurement/Contractual side of things as well as strategic Account Planning and IT strategies across the whole of MTN.
  • The person must have well rounded business skills and communication skills as well as a good planner and attention to detail.

Purpose

To sustain, generate and grow revenue stream from the MTN group.

This will include direct account management of the MTN head office in Johannesburg and the operating companies spread across the region. This person will pull together all the individual account managers across the regions into one virtual team and drive common strategies and procurement policies across the group. They will be the single point of contact for the entire MTN Group.

The role requires the ability to negotiate and deal at a procurement level as well as communicate and execute business and IT strategies at the CXO level across the group.

Duties & Responsibilities (Not in priority order) 

  • Deliver on the Financial Targets defined across all lines of business for all MTN operations in the SSA and MENA regions. 
  • Drive and lead the virtual account team to define and execute on strategy. 
  • Develop effective relationships at senior levels to position 
  • Capture new opportunities 
  • Provide accurate and regular forecasts and business updates to senior Management 
  • Establish and maintain effective Partner and Marketing plans. 
  • Mobilise appropriate resources to provide highest level of IP transfer and support to MTN. 
  • Co-ordinate and execute regular planned customer updates at all operations across the regions. 
  • Ensure our client becomes the trusted advisor and owner of the IT architecture across all MTN operations.
  • Utilise and leverage the resources of the Executive Sponsor on the account. 
  • Negotiate all pricing and related contractual procurement agreements. 
  • Document and execute on an effective MTN Group sales strategy. 

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • University Level education a minimum. 
  • 15 years experience in IT sales with 5 years at an executive level. 
  • Proven track record in multi-region account management and sales. 
  • Applicant must be prepared to travel extensively across the region - 3 weeks of each month.
  • English Mandatory.

  • It's a Sales Management role rather than a Salesperson selling
  • Experience in the Telco industry would be an advantage but not essential
  • Candidate will need experience of working in South Africa and have had responsibility for multiple territories
