Our Client

Humares is a Dutch-based, international staffing company, founded in 1976.  The company focuses on selected, specialized markets in the technical, maritime and professionals fields, providing highly skilled people with scarce profiles.  Humares deploys three distinct and unique staffing delivery models, and is certified according to NEN 4400, VCU and ISO.  The Company is owned by private equity, the founder of the company and the management team.  The company’s total revenues for 2008 were €120 million. The majority of the revenues derives from customers in the Benelux, i.e., 60% in the Netherlands and 24% in Belgium. The Humares Group employs 250 internal employees.
Humares' operating companies are strongly positioned in the flexible staffing markets through their unique combination of three staffing service concepts.

Our three staffing service concepts are:

  • International Distance Matching: the complete range of services needed for the effective placement of international workers.
  • Apprenticeship concept: Humares operating companies are developing talent in various disciplines in combination with on-the-job training programs. We recruit and select the ‘professionals of the future', place them with suitable clients and coach them towards their professional qualification. 
  • Local for Local: the traditional staffing service concept of a local branch placing local staff with local clients. This concept requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the local staffing market.

The flex-workers are being seconded for short term to even one year periods.  In many cases, the flex-workers originate either from the Benelux or from Eastern Europe and Asia.  Over the last decade, Humares has enjoyed a compounded annual growth rate of 22.5% in sales. In 2008 and 2009 we are facing the results of the economic circumstances., The Company has a direct presence in 10 countries plus agents in another 7 countries. The Company’s executive committee consists of the CEO, two Division Directors namely Division Director for NL, Germany & Poland and Division Director Maritime & Belgium, the HR Director and the CFO.  The Company seeks to attract a new Division Director for the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.

The Role

The Division Director is a member of the executive committee of Humares, reporting directly to the CEO.  He or she will have the overall P&L responsibility for the Netherlands, Germany & Poland (approximately 125 people).  Almost all of the people are based in the Netherlands.  The division currently includes three brands: Maintec, TiP personeelsdiensten and XPE Engineering Netherlands (this will be Nova Engineering within a few weeks). The focus is on the temporary employment of specialized technical and industrial personnel.
Currently customers are predominantly based in the Netherlands.
The operating companies controlled by the Division director offer all 3 Humares staffing service concepts, where the revenues amount to approximately 50% Local for local, 40% International Distance matching; 10% Apprentice Concept.
Direct reports of the Division director are Managing directors of the operating companies, Marketing manager, Product manager apprentice concept, a Quality manager (also in his role as international sourcing manager) and supporting staff.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Humares:  Contributing to the strategy and the profitable growth of the company as a member of the executive committee of Humares.
  • Organic growth:  Generating substantial additional revenue. Growing the secondment business and the recruitment & selection business.
  • Acquisitions:  Integrating new businesses within the scope of this Division.
  • Professionalization:  Bringing this Division in all its aspects to the next level of professionalization, including people, systems, processes etc.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, entrepreneurial Dutch General Manager with substantial international experience in the temping industry or another business-to-business services provider.  He or she meets all of the following requirements:

  • Temping expertise:  At least three years of recent experience in the Dutch temping industry.
  • General manager or BU manager: A successful track record as a General manager or BU manager with full P&L responsibility and extensive commercial experience.
  • Leadership: An inspiring, charismatic, driven and entrepreneurial individual who is also a strong people developer.
  • Technics: Affinity with technics.
  • International: Experience with working in multiple European countries; fluent in Dutch and English; willing to travel. Working at the offices in Vlissingen and Ede.
