The organisation

Our client is a globally operating sporting goods retailer. For their office in Amsterdam they are looking for a Senior Treasury and Tax Manager to join a team of 2 and working on a wider EMEA region. You will be reporting to Senior Finance Director. This is a hybrid role.

The position

The senior treasury and tax manager will be managing a team of 2 (both colleagues are working from UK) and will be responsible for strategic regional focus taking ownership of the business's banking relationships, forecasts, and process plus working with financial management (globally, regionally, and locally) and multiple third-party service providers.

This role will be integral to the continuous development of the treasury and tax functions and require someone who is a confident stakeholder manager, can bring experience of process design and improvement to the table, and will champion the utilization of finance data to leverage commercial gain.

Tasks & responsibilities

Treasury – EMEA & Strategic Focus:

  • Oversees treasury function and performs regional cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and funding levels across all EMEA subsidiaries, working very closely with the Global Treasury team.
  • Ensure compliance with terms of financing agreements and covenants on an actual and proforma basis.
  • Oversight and guidance for operational treasury activities: currency risk management; bank ac-count & cash management; working capital management; regional banking relations.
  • Developing and implementing regional treasury projects to manage financial risk and enhance cash flow efficiency and working capital optimization.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (across global, regional, and local subsidiaries), including finance, accounting, tax, and legal, to ensure effective treasury operations.

Tax – EMEA & Strategic Focus:

  • Oversight of the tax returns for all EMEA subsidiaries.
  • Oversight of accounting for income taxes for EMEA subsidiaries with third-party vendors and EMEA Global Tax; estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes; maintenance and organization of the company’s corporate, tax, and other compliance-related documents.
  • Responsible for regional transfer pricing and management fee arrangements, working closely with EMEA Global Tax.
  • Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues.
  • Assist in identifying, mitigating, and assessing tax risks. Find areas of cost reduction.

Risk Management – EMEA Focus:

  • Ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place over treasury management as well as accounting for income taxes.
  • Responsible for governance approval and auditing of user access to IT systems to ensure compliance and internal control.
  • Departmental liaison with IT staff on all technical matters relating to tax and treasury applications.
  • Responsible for responding to inquiries from regulatory authorities and coordinating appropriate responses.
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned including but not limited to assisting with month and close and reporting.

Candidate profile

You have at least 10+ years of experience in a similar role, a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field and MBA, CFA, treasury, or accounting qualifications are highly preferred.

External audit and prior working experience in a similar capacity in an advisory firm is a plus, preferably with regional and/or international exposure. Experience in corporate income tax for large entities with International tax skills. Expertise in cash management, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management. Experience in building and maintaining strong banking relationships.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different cultures and geographies. Excellent analytical and digital skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.

The offer
