Introduction/background

Our client, a commercial bank in Africa is looking for an hands on Interim CFO in order to bridge the gap until the permanent candidate is found.

The project period is approx.4 months

The job role

The CFO is an experienced banker or professional in the financial sector with a demonstrable track record. The CFO plays a critical hands on management role, structuring the bank’s Accounting & Finance Department, as well as building a small but professional Treasury department, capable of supporting the banks ambitious growth forecast.

The CFO will guide and control expenditures and ensure professional reporting throughout the branch network. The CFO will lead the preparation of financial statements in conformity with IFRS and the requirements of the central bank of Mozambique. As a young organization, the emphasis of the challenge lies on building and professionalizing the controls and disciplines in the bank.

Remuneration

Day rate to reflect experience -€800-€1000

The Role

• Responsible for external reporting to Central Bank and Shareholders
• Hands on management of the Accounting & Finance Department
• Responsible for Treasury function and financial accounting processes
• Responsible for timely delivery of KPI reports and profits and loss reports per branch
• Responsible for budget and forecasting processes.

The Person

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate the following competencies and aptitudes:

• University level education, preferably post-graduate
• Extensive experience as CFO or Financial manager
• Knowledge and experience in retail and commercial banking (>10 years)
• Proven track record in change management
• Fluent communication skills in English; Portuguese ability important advantage
• Experience with working in multi-cultural environments is a pro.

Education

University level in Accounting or a degree in financial sciences.

Experience

Minimum of 5 year-experience in accounting and in management of an accounting team;
Experience in an international company acting in the financial services sector.

Language
English fluent; Portuguese preferable
