The organisation

Our client is a committed organization with a long standing experience in the development, manufacturing, construction and installation of innovative synthetic turf systems. With a unique in-house laboratory and strong exclusive partnerships, the client offers innovative and complete synthetic turf systems for a variety of sports and for landscaping purposes. 

The products are certified by major international sports federations such as FIFA and FIH (hockey). The organization sells its products throughout the world (with emphasis on the EMEA region) through its own sales organizations (branch offices) but especially through partners such as resellers, contractors and installers. Production and sales take place within different organizations. 

The client is an internationally oriented, dynamic, young, creative and informal organization with 20 employeesin the Netherlands and 8 sales people abroad. The annual turnover is approximately EUR 25-30 million. Headquarter is in Genemuiden where the Sales and Marketing Director will be based.

The position

You are responsible for establishing, leading and directing the sales & marketing efforts in Europe, Middle East and Africa, including marketing communication and public relations. The position will be strongly focused on managing, stimulating and leading the sales (and COS and marketing) organization, seeking for and benefitting from growth opportunities. The overall objective is to foster growth of revenue and profitability of the activities.

You will directly supervise a sales organization (3 European Sales Managers, 3 Territory Sales Representatives) / Marketing Team (2 Marketing Managers) and Customer Order Service team (4 COS Employees).

The Sales & Marketing Director reports to the Managing Director with a dotted line to the Managing Director EMEA of the mother company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing: The Sales and Marketing Director is responsible for development and implementation of the adequate sales and marketing strategy. This means sales and distribution strategy, covering all customer segments (end-users, contractors, distributers and architects & designers), product segments and sports applications (of which the largest are the applications soccer and hockey).  Overall growth in both sales and profits has to be achieved by execute these sales and marketing plans and budgets.
  • Sales: Manage and lead the business in all aspects of sales leadership. Proactively lead and steer the sales organization towards opportunities and growth of the business in regions where growth can be reached (nationally and internationally). Assign sales responsibilities through targets, objectives and deliverables to the Sales Managers and Sales Agents. Develop goals and objectives resulting from the companies’ business strategy and execute these methodically once decided.
  • Product Management: Product portfolio management. Overall product line management, product life cycle management.
  • Pricing: Set and execute an international pricing policy and price limits for all assigned products, systems and solutions. Strength in steering and managing price settings.
  • Market communications: You are responsible for an aligned marketing communications strategy (including public relations).
  • Customer service: By leading the COS, different customer requests will be served, reviewed and honored.
  • Teambuilding & communication: Create an international team with a real “Play to Win” spirit, create enthusiasm, drive spirit, stimulate productivity and creativity of the team, make it one international team, while holding it responsible for achieving targets, goals and objectives.
  • Manage human resource functions: Coaching, managing, leading.

Candidate profile

  • More than 10 years international sales and marketing experience in B2B
  • Experienced in Management of cross regional international sales organizations
  • Experienced in working with resellers, architects, contractors and end-user customers
  • Business administration educational level (MBA level preferred)
  • Experience and/or strong affinity with a technical product
  • Thorough financial knowledge
  • Fluently in international languages
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Sports minded

Salary conditions

Fixed salary max. €120.000, plus bonuses.
