International SBU Controller

Main function: 
The finance & Control function is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Purpose of the role: 
To set financial objectives and goals of the SBU in close collaboration with SBU management and according to the SBU strategy and to establish and maintain a good financial government structure in order to ensure that financial business processes comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
Reports to:  Group Controller 

Main Accountabilities:

  • Set financial objectives and goals of the SBU in close collaboration with SBU management and in accordance with the SBU strategy.
  • Establish and maintain a good financial government structure in order to ensure that financial business processes comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
  • Oversee the accounting operations of the subsidiary corporations for the SBU, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Coordinate the preparation of the SBU quarterly and annual reports
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of SBU operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Support and control of the business units balance sheet and ensure that financial statements reflect international standards as well as complying with relevant rules and regulations.
  • Work closely with SBU management in developing annual operating budgets and revenue plans and provide reports required to monitor and track performance against plans.
  • Lead production of monthly management Profit and Loss reports including variance analysis for the Solar business.
  • Assisting in the monthly close activities for the SBU including identification of accruals and prepayments and cost assurance activities to ensure that results are complete and accurate.

  • Compliance of all Statutory and legislative accounting and reporting / Satisfactory results from audit reviews / limited risk exposure
  • Timely, complete and  accurate providing of financial information and financial reports / statements
  • Quality and effectiveness of project management / business management support
  • Accuracy of forecast and revenue plans
  • Quality of reports for monitoring performance against plans
  • On time issuing of variances from the budget 

Scope Indicators:

  • Number of subsidiaries
  • Speed of business growth

Education, knowledge and working experience:

  • Degree in Financial Accounting/ Controlling/  Qualified CIMA / ACCA Qualified Accountant
  • 5-10 years controlling experience gained either in consulting and/or a commercial/manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of group reporting
  • Skills in forecasting, budgeting and analysis of variances.
  • Advanced Excel skills advantageous
  • Knowledge of Power point advantageous
  • Fluent in English,  other European language advantageous
