For our client, a US company, we are looking for a EMEA Director Reporting & Tax.

The EMEA Director Reporting & Tax is responsible for the statutory and tax reporting functions for all legal entities belonging to the organisation in Europe. This includes advising the company on statutory and tax accounting / reporting matters, as well as ensuring the correct execution of the European statutory and tax accounting rules and maintenance of the companies bookkeeping system, in such a manner legal requirements are met. Specifically, the EMEA Director Reporting & Tax will identify challenges the Finance Team and the operational organization faces from a statutory and tax reporting perspective.

Primary function/major responsibilities:

  • Managing European statutory reporting process including preparation of statutory accounts 
  • Managing statutory reporting time-lines 
  • Maintaining reconciliation & analysis variances US GAAP to Statutory to Tax net equity 
  • Responding to Statutory E&Y Prepared By Client requirements 
  • Coordinating internal SOX / external (tax) audit processes and liaise with internal and external auditors 
  • Directly oversee and lead preparation of the tax return submissions, including: 
  • Managing review of accounts and records to ensure proper computation of returns; 
  • Perform account to return reconciliations; 
  • Serves as primary contact with corporate tax group and outside consultants 
  • Working with Corporate Tax, responsible for ensuring that consequences of transactions are properly memorialized and reflected on returns; 
  • Preparation of quarterly tax numbers (actuals and forecast) for internal reporting (US GAAP implications) 
  • Preparation of FAS109 and FIN48 reporting packages 
  • Involvement with transfer pricing studies and new arrangements 
  • Tax structure -implementation and maintenance of the tax structure in line with legislation 
  • Compliance and controls - working with the Tax Group to set up and implement a control process to ensure that the European tax structure and processes are governed by and compliant with local legislation and company policy. Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. 
  • Performs other (adhoc) duties as agreed to and/or required.

Job complexity

Operates within guidelines and procedures with a range of complexity depending the level of operation. Has to be able to communicate effectively with European headquarter colleagues and external relations. The position requires initiative and errors in judgment could affect company image.

Candidate profile

  • You have a strong academic background on business economic level, preferably combined with a CPA / Chartered Accounting education. 
  • 10-15 years experience in an accounting department with relevant experience in financial, tax and statutory reporting issues. 
  • Experience in managing small teams 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and exposure to centralized finance centre environments. 
  • Detail-oriented vision with strong analytical and problem solving skills to complement creative 'out-of-the-box' thinking 
  • Adaptable, self motivated and strong team player who can drive statutory and tax processes through influence and motivate staff to achieve objectives 
  • You have the ability to work effectively and conscientious under tight schedules. 
  • You are fluent in oral and written English 
  • You have good knowledge of Microsoft applications and preferable Oracle (no must)
