Our client is a global chemical major. They operate globally across a range of sectors. We are searching for a Category Manager to be based from their Basel office.
  
Key accountabilities:
 
  • Deliver ongoing annual savings in excess of 2-4% of the total portfolio spend by exploiting regional and business specific synergies as well as conducting a professional commercial purchasing
  • Provide updated market analysis, evaluation of existing/new sources of supplies at global level with the support of the APAC and America’s teams
  • Develop strategic and tactical relationships with key suppliers and tollers, ensuring utilization of leverage, in order to ensure that the operational and strategic needs are aligned with the business
  • Manage contracts, to the best interest of the business needs
  • Seek opportunities to implement regional and global agreements across the company
  • Proactively assess supply vulnerabilities and suggest and implement contingency plans
  • Participate to the purchasing process optimization & in the S&OP
  • Ensure that specifications exist and are communicated to the suppliers
  • Understand the dynamics of the Global toll manufacturing market
  • Manage tolling arrangements to ensure best prices are negotiated
  • Monitor accurately the tolling performance of suppliers and ensure that deviations are quickly corrected if necessary
 
Profile:
 
You should have a degree in chemistry, finance or economics and a minimum of 7 years experience working in a purchasing or commercial role. Additional professional experience in Product Management and/or Marketing is an asset. You must show solid negotiation skills, proven commercial skills or evidence of commercial aptitude. You must be fluent in English, German and French language skills are an asset. You must show a high degree of influencing competencies. You have a sound understanding of purchasing processes, the capacity to work in a dynamic environment and the ability to maintain a high degree of resilience, motivation and tenacity under pressure.
