The position

The Sales Director is directly responsible for 9 accountmanagers and reports directly to the Business Unit Director. 

Overall purpose:

  • To coach and develop each team member to achieve their maximum potential through a combination of business and personal development objectives;
  • Takes responsibility for delivery of targets for business development through a team of Account Managers, across both existing customers (primarily growth) and defined new business target vertical markets; 
  • Deliver personal sales and ensure that these results enhance and ensure the delivery of the overall team target;
  • Adherence to Tollgate process, methodologies and tools, application of Performance Management on staff.

Tasks & responsibilities 

1.Strategy

  • Develop strategies that drive growth and profitability in target organizations through the performance of the sales team.

2. Sales

  • Generate new business; prospect for potential customers through cold acquisition and networking (‘hunting’ activities).

3. Targets

  • Deliver budgets and targets as defined.

4. Leadership

  • Build a high performing team by empowering and coaching engagement team members to create solutions, providing support and guidance where required.
  • Assist, coach and develop the team to provide a service ‘beyond imagination’ in line with the vision of the organisation.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within your team.

5. Customers

  • Drive and support customer value through creative and sustainable propositions and ongoing relationship management that delivers on innovation commitments and objectives.
  • Participate in strategic (Key) customer reviews and governance meetings, taking responsibility for the achievement of the actions and requests, on time and within costs.

6. Collaboration

  • Lead by example in the promotion of the company’s wider offering across all business units to both the team and our customers. 
  • Design the pre-tender strategies and actions to win targeted accounts and work with the Bid Team to maximise win ratios for targeted accounts.

7. Staff development

  • Align the team’s behaviors and activities with the company’s and channels objectives.
  • Proactively manage the performance of each team member through coaching, mentoring and structured performance management processes. • To ensure training and development activities support both current and future requirements.
  • Foster an effective team environment and promote succession planning, talent management and career development.

8. Best practice

  • Sponsor and drive the Best Practice teams working throughout Sales and Business Development and ensure that these best practices are shared at all levels across the organization, including EMEA. 

9. Personal

  • Lead the sales effort through delivery of personal sales that enhance and ensure the delivery of the overall team’s objectives. 
  • To achieve all agreed targets (Growth, Profitability, and Collaboration & Customer Satisfaction).

Candidate profile

Experienced and passionate senior sales executive who is able to achieve a cultural change in sales attitude. 

Qualifications

  • University or Bachelor degree;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English 

Experience / skills

  • Min. 15 years of consultative selling experience in complex services and solutions;
  • Proven success in generating sales, both with new logos and expanding existing clients on C-level;
  • Board room presence;
  • Understanding of financial data and information;
  • People management experience, natural leadership and ability to inspire people;
  • Strong communication and coaching skills;
  • Demand management

  • Creative capabilities in maximizing the value within budget;
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the client organisation;
  • Ability to manage and work within a team;

Salary conditions

Salary max. € 160.000 OTE per year and excellent benefits.
