Ocean Recruitment is a recruitment company dedicated to the chemical and raw materials industry. For one of our clients we are searching for a Sales / Business Development Manager Pearl Pigments.

Our client is one of the largest producers of pearl pigments in the world and offers a wide variety of pigments based on natural mica, synthetic mica and borosilicate for Automotive, Coatings, Plastics, Inks and Cosmetics. The European marketing & sales office is located in The Netherlands.

The position

As a Sales / Business Development Manager Pearl Pigments you will be responsible for the generation of additional profitable sales to enlarge the company’s market coverage. You contribute to the market knowledge and product fit of relevant strategic applications. In addition, you will develop and drive (new) customer value propositions. He/ she will complement the Sales/Account support team who takes care of existing applications and exiting customers. 

Tasks & responsibilities 

  • Acquiring and commercializing projects (new customers or new applications or both) within the defined territories and market segments.
  • Responsible for positioning value propositions at the target customers, taking their specific circumstances and situation into account.
  • Leveraging and coordinating of supporting functions which can contribute to the successful closure of projects.
  • Responsible to communicate to and manage the expectations of the customer with regards to material availability and technical support. 
  • Accountable for initiating discussion concerning development agreements with customers. 
  • Responsible for correct administration of projects and planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain networks at adequate levels in the value chain, within customer’s organizations and research focusing on engineering and technology.
  • Responsible for collecting and communicating market information, market trends and emerging needs within the industry segment.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate has experience in pearl pigments in a sales role and can identify him/herself with the following.

  • A formal education in a polymer or materials subject would be an advantage but is not essential to this role.
  • At least 5 years experience in the European B2B-market, preferably in the supply of pigments, masterbatch, additives or related products in to polymers, inks or coatings industry.
  • Knowledge of key market sectors, applications and application development preferred.
  • Established success and track record in sales over a significant period of time.
  • Demonstrated experience in creative and complex deal making and sales.
  • A reasonable technical understanding of pigments used in polymers, inks and coatings would be preferred.
  • Experienced in co-development projects with customers, understanding the product development process at customers.
  • Fluency in English and German is essential. Other European languages will benefit the role.
