Aalberts hydronic flow control (HFC), contains 2 strong brands Comap and Flamco, generates € 480 million turnover with 1.845 people by the development, production and sale of quality components for HVAC applications. With several competence centres and sales offices in more than 25 countries they offer hydronic solutions for heating and cooling systems for the large-residential and non-residential construction and industrial markets. Aalberts HFC is the one-stop specialist, from source to emitter, for all building system challenges; delivering innovative, tailor-made and fail-safe solutions that bring affordable clean energy and
hygienic water distribution. Aalberts HFC is partnering with its customers to engineer seamless energy efficient hydronic systems for their building requirements and is involved in every step of the building life cycle. With the integration of Flamco and Comap in spring 2020 and the new build plant in Almere, Aalberts HFC business is a strongly growing business and one of the top players in the industry.

At Aalberts HFC procurement adds critical value through continuous focus on innovation, for which structural contact with R&D is imperative. Continuous improvement and optimizing risk management are crucial, while sustainable procurement adds to an inspiring and viable work environment. Improving data management and the integration of different ERP systems for accurate KPI’s and reporting tools is critical for a stock listed company like Aalberts. Besides managing daily operational business, purchasing also performs strategic short/long term projects. This requires high-quality purchasing and management qualities and, combined with more efficient business operations, forms the core of ongoing professionalization in the organization.

The procurement function manages business critical supplier relationships, required for continuity and healthy margins, through the acquisition of materials, services and integrated business solutions. The global purchase team of Aalberts HFC includes 15 people spread over 8 global competence centres, headed by product line procurement managers. About 50-55% of turnover is spent on opex and capex purchasing, while Flamco stocks 5.000 SKU’s purchased from 250 suppliers based in NL (40%), D (27%), CN (8%) and IT (6%). Metals like brass, steel coil and also rubber are raw materials crucial for the whole Aalberts Group.

The position

The offices of Flamco are currently based in Bunschoten, however new eco-friendly facilities will open mid-2021 to facilitate future growth and is based in Almere. Against this background we search qualified candidates for the position of Productline Procurement Manager.

A strong and experienced procurement manager with a proven track record to create a long-term procurement strategy, who will be responsible for the product line Flamco within Aalberts HFC. He or she manages, coaches and develops a small procurement team to the next level and closely cooperates with other HFC team members. The Procurement Manager directly reports to the Purchase Director for whom he/she furthermore acts as a deputy substitute.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Developing a vision on the Productline Procurement and translating this into a strategy which is aligned with wider company procurement plans. Initiating and participating in procurement strategy sessions.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to the Productline Procurement Team of 3 direct reports. Inspiring, motivating and guiding this team in the independent execution of their work. Coaching on the realization of intended changes and improvements to the next level.
  • Support development of the procurement organisation with strong functioning interfaces within the division organisation.
  • Partner with regional business leaders to understand their sourcing business requirements and develop/execute sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure alignment of sourcing objectives: terms and conditions, savings supplier consolidation, supplier performance, sourcing risk management.
  • Maintain awareness of supply market trends and provide actionable insights to business and sourcing leaders. Partner with the R&D department in exchanging information useful for innovation purposes. Connect the outcome of changes in supply market trends to the procurement strategy.
  • Follow strategic sourcing practices, establish and maintain a network of suppliers, including supplier selection, contract negotiations and supplier relationship management.
  • Use category management practices, maintain a current portfolio of categories and commodities, evaluate key risks and opportunities and a pipeline of projects to manage them.
  • Develop, plan, monitor and execute cost down projects. Be responsible to track and report on cost savings and procurement metrics to regional and global stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and manage key supplier agreements.
  • Manage the supplier quality interface to ensure that requirements are understood and met.
  • Manage the supplier identification and selection for New Product Development projects for assigned commodities.
  • Conduct Suppliers Business Reviews with strategic suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Draw up budgets, analyse differences between reality and budget and provide explanation and advice.
  • Report to management on realization of the procurement strategy and on opportunities and threats in the market and strengths and weaknesses in the procurement organization.

Candidate profile m/f

As future Procurement Productline Manager you have outstandingly successful experience in setting up, expanding and professionalizing procurement roles, preferably in a HVAC industry. Your gained knowledge of and experience with procurement in an international hands-on environment and in multiple types of manufacturing environments.

Blessed with natural charisma you are a strong personality that fits Aalberts’ company values: an entrepreneur who takes ownership, goes for excellence, shares and learns and acts with integrity. You are a self-starter, deliver and get things done but always keep an eye on your team and peers in the organization. Critical and assertive, but you listen well and gladly set your ego aside when convinced by arguments. Able to adapt to and influence people in different cultures.

Excellent people/communication skills in managing expectations and commitments. You communicate clearly, solidly and convincingly and use a structured approach. You know how to gain trust and build and maintain strong relationships on several levels. With an excellent eye for details, you direct and report in outline. Both flexible and persistent, you can be patiently tactful yet always decisive.

Furthermore:

  • Master degree in business administration, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering or related disciplines.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in the field of international procurement roles, preferably in the HVAC industry. Senior knowledge of and experience with sourcing, purchasing and material management in an international hands on environment and in multiple types of manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in the steel market would be a pre.
  • Proven experience in leading and coaching teams.
  • Proven project management skills in a changing organization;
  • Hands on mentality combined with strategical and tactical skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in managing expectations and commitments;
  • Able to adapt to and influence different cultures;
  • Persuasiveness and negotiating skills combined with sound listening skills;
  • Conceptual, analytical, strategical, tactical and problem solving skills.
  • Fluent command of Dutch, English and German;
  • Command of French is preferred.
