The position

As the Director Antibody Technology, you are responsible for keeping Genmab’s antibody generation technological processes & capabilities state-of-the-art. The major goals to deliver will be set by Genmab’s New Format & Technology program, New Products program and (pre-)clinical development plans. In your role as the Director Antibody Technology you ensure that these deliverables are achieved and processes and activities are optimally aligned In addition, based on the company’s needs and expectations, you run a Technology Innovation program that defines how Genmab’s capabilities need to be improved to ensure optimal process and capabilities with regard to revolutionary antibody creation, screening, analyses and selection in the best possible way.

Tasks & responsibilities

Your work focuses on the expert areas of Lead Generation (including screening capabilities and molecular biology capabilities), Protein Production & Characterisation and other non- and pre-clinical related assays and technologies. You manage the connection between the various technology experts and ensure optimal delivery to the goals in all pre-clinical stages. You advise on later stage development when desired. You bring a shared focus in the work of the various processes and define process improvements where needed. It is critical that you optimally connect to expectations as set in the different antibody projects and programs and that you have a forward looking perspective.

Based on your broad knowledge and expertise, you actively discuss scientific and technological challenges with Genmab’s experts. Your role in the Technology Innovation program may act beyond your line responsibilities (Lead Generation and Protein Production & Characterisation), alignment with the other programs and expertise areas is considered critical. In this role, in close collaboration with the experts involved, you bring relevant new technologies in Genmab, all to ensure that Genmab has future-proof process capabilities for the discovery and generation of antibody products, critical to reach its goals.

The Director Antibody Technology reports hierarchically to the Sr. Director Operations & Resource Management and functionally to the VP Research and Sr. Director New Antibody Products, whereas a number of Technology Experts report functionally to you.

Candidate profile 

You have a PhD in Life Sciences. A background and/or broad knowledge of Molecular Biology is considered a plus. Also, you have a minimum of 5 - 10 years of relevant experience within the biotechnological and/or pharmaceutical industry. During this time you have acquired a solid understanding of Research & Development in an industrial setting. In addition, you have a proven track record of implementing new techniques. You are familiar with technology transfer and have a broad knowledge of various expertises, like analytical chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology.

As a person, you are convincing, energetic and enthusiastic. Also, you have excellent networking skills and are able to lead and inspire the technical people in an organisation. You are innovative, opportunity driven and willing to take calculated risks. Furthermore, you are a pro-active leader and have an easy-going mentality. You are capable to recognise the trends in the field of Antibody Technology and you can think ahead. Finally, you are willing to travel for work.
