The position

Purpose of the job:
Ensure a clear commercial proposition and plan, maintain high level relationships with customers and manage the commercial organisation, in line with the business plan and budget and commercial network in VTTI, in order to achieve the targeted commercial performance contributing to the VTTI commercial network.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, monitor, realise and maintain close personal relationships with local key customers, stakeholders and relevant third parties, for marketing purposes and to ensure market and customer know how. Contribute to global programs for VTTI worldwide. Build up both business and informal relationships with all relevant parties
  • Contribute to the development and after approval execution of the overall business strategy and derived annual plan and budget
  • Develop and after approval execute the local commercial strategy and related annual plan and budget in terms of activities, resources and results for marketing and sales
  • Develop Business Development initiatives and after approval contribute to the realisation of local and or regional projects, in line with market trends and customer needs, in order to ensure value creating commercial propositions now and in the future
  • Monitor the local commercial performance, provide feedback and take actions if needed, in cooperation with General Management
  • Ensure an effective commercial organisation with clear policies, procedures and standards and manage commercial staff meeting current and future requirements in quality and quantity. Contribute to the VTTI (global) commercial best practices
  • Ensure market information and analyses of market trends, competitors, key customers and make information available within the VTTI/Vitol network, in order to ensure up to date and thorough understanding of the market developments and present and future needs of customers
  • Develop and after approval implement a clear proposition of VTTI to customers, including type of services, pricing, terms and conditions, in cooperation with the operations and customer service management and in line with the proposition of VTTI worldwide and specific customer needs
  • Coordinate offering, negotiation and entering sales contracts for (key) customers and contribute to sales contracts for global VTTI accounts, ensuring targeted sales performance
  • Ensure correct execution of the (local) commercial contracts within the organisation, including financial and legal processing of the contract, in order to meet agreed customers’ requirements and VTTI’s internal efficiency. Ensure claim settlement maintaining customer satisfaction, in cooperation with General Management and according to internal guidelines
  • Close contacts with CCO and Head of Strategy & Business Development

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor or Master degree
  • About 10 - 15 years’ of experience in similar positions
  • Experience within the Petrochemical or Energy business is a big plus, experience within an Investment Banking environment is also interesting
  • Commercial track record in relevant business, strong focus on planning, execution and delivery
  • Business Development and Key Account Management satisfaction
  • Local/regional commercial network contribution and impact
  • Clear local commercial offering, objectives (regional, local) and plans (activities, resources), procedures and standards
  • Understanding of the market and of the role of the terminal in the value chain of the (potential) customers
  • Market knowhow, quality and impact of market, Business Development initiatives and projects
  • Deal Closer, entrepreneurial, charismatic personality and pro-active customer focus
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Adaptability to change, open minded, hands-on and flexible
  • A self-starter with the personal skills to communicate to, and influence, people from all levels in the organization
  • Willing to travel around the globe, depending of the projects (about 30%)
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
