The position

You are a proactive, customer- and relation-oriented, strategic thinking, but above all results driven director business development,  with a focus on our clients and potential market within Europe and the Middle East, who takes end responsible for developing all long lasting (new) business and customer & peers relationships. You are also the key interface with the (potential) customers and partners on development of new (joint) business and handling more complex commercial strategy and tactics. You support the Business Line Directors in all commercial aspects (such as negotiations and proposal management). You and your team work in close harmony with the Business Lines in developing new business. You will be the face of Fokker to the customer and the face of the customer within Fokker.

You are capable of managing the commercial team EMEA and coaching the program team in line with the strategic and/ or operational objectives of  Fokker Aerostructures, in order to optimize the profitability, income and growth of Fokker Aerostructures and for the strategic accounts on Fokker Technologies level. Commercial Excellence is the red thread.

Tasks & responsibilities

You have a proven track record in showing strategic vision, building bridges and creating winning propositions. Together with your colleagues you will be responsible for the development and execution of (strategic) account plans and general marketing & sales plans including branding, media exposure, organizing events and attending tradeshows. You will further improve the international position of the Dutch Aerospace cluster and Fokker as the national champion.

You will display the ability to mobilize people behind common goals and coach your team to achieve success. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a credible and respected professional, both externally and internally.

You are able to align the technical and commercial roadmaps of the customers and Fokker and to feed the R&T department with direction from a market and customer point of view. You will be accepted as a trustworthy long term partner by customers and peers, not as another sales manager.

Candidate profile

  • Master degree or Bachelor degree preferably in Aerospace Engineering.  
  • Minimum 10 years working in a similar role in an international environment with experience in the Aerospace environment. 
  • Familiarity with CRM tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to communicate in an international environment with multiple (potential) customers.
  • Fluent in Dutch & English. Good skills in French and German are preferred. Spanish is beneficial.

Main Responsibilities

  • Commercial Excellence for FAE within the EMEA region. 
  • Define vision, strategy, objectives, (strategic) account plan, tactics and budget for the EMEA customers and prospects in line with FAE and FT strategic objectives, in order to give direction to the business development in a way that leads to sustainable growth and profitability. 
  • Set-up and manage the business development team EMEA. 
  • Maintain and expand the (long term) relations in the industrial network of customers and partners. 
  • Initiation, coaching and managing of proposal teams and negotiation teams. 
  • Coordinate and disseminate EMEA market intelligence. 
  • Provide direction to the FAE and FT Technology teams from a customer and market demand perspective. 
  • Achieve and maintain the change in organization culture and increase in performance.
  • Create new business models to support the commercial excellence.
