The organisation

Our client is an internationally active supplier and producer of fresh vegetables. The company supplies countries within Europe with its products all year round, creating an efficient network through close cooperation between them and growers. The company has three production locations (Netherlands + North/West Africa) and a gross revenue of € 250+ million.

The position 

To enable the company's objective, it is required to develop and deploy a state of-the-art HR strategy on a BU level, aligned to local requirements, corporate and BU goals, BU strategy, laws and regulations.

It has therefore been decided to create a new HR Director position within the organization.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy HR Strategy in alignment with Corporate HR Strategy (e.g. talent management, performance management), 3 year business plan, collective labour agreements and laws and regulations
  • Prepare HR budgets, annual agenda and planning to all (international) BU' and ensure that objectives for the sites are set and met within approved budget, schedules and quality specifications
  • Advise local Board of Directors and management on HR strategy and policies
  • Be up-to-date with developments within the HR discipline to ensure a state-of-the-art HR Policy and compliance throughout the BU
  • Developing joint strategic and HR initiatives. Discusses policy and execution with the CEO
  • Managing the workforce and all HR related processes as well as the flexible workforce and the SLA’s behind this
  • Professionalizing all HR topics involved and bringing these to a higher level
  • Contribute to the design of an effective and evolving business organization in which all employees can operate efficiently (orgchart, job descriptions,hierarchical lines)
  • Ensure timely availability of personnel capacity (quality and quantity)
  • Develop and manage a competitive salary/benefits plan
  • Ensure all payroll and administrativeactivities arerun effectively in compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Develop and manage educational programs to upgrade the level of personnel available
  • Participate and contribute in meetings at corporate level to exchange information and align BU HR policies
  • Lead, manage, inspire and motivate assigned local HR management and/or employees in line with the BU HR strategy, applicable HR policies, collective labor agreements and laws and regulations
  • Act as a strategy HR advisor to the BU General Management and Management Team, provide day to day advice on all HR issues, visibly supports the senior leadership teamand their agenda
  • Monitor results vs HR strategy and planning at BU level. Analyze these and initiate corrective actions where necessary to meet set objectives
  • Stimulate change and improvement assess proposals of subordinates as well as to propose change or improvement of processes to the Board of Directors
  • Develop and assess performance indicators and take appropriate action to ensure that HR objectives are met across the BU
  • Responsible for HR senior level decision making (e.g. appointment of key leaders, organizational changes, remuneration strategy, choice of HR systems)
  • Management of the HR function within the assigned BU's
  • HR Strategy, planning and budgeting in alignment with corporate HR Strategy to ensure timely availability of qualified personnel to ensure that the company's business objectives can be met
  • Compliance of HR Policies and processes with applicable regional, national, divisional and/or corporate guidelines, procedures, law and regulations
  • Timely availability of required reporting at local and group level
  • Continuous improvement of the HR discipline

Candidate profile

Skills & experience

  • At least 10-15 years of experience with significant experience in HR management
  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • International (preferably African) work experience, and knowledge of working in multi-cultural environments
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad on a regular basis: 35%-50%
  • Procedures, company rules, guidelines (national and international), law, rules & regulations, standards, safety, quality and environmental guidelines as far as applicable
  • Experienced in an international organization
  • Strong business knowledge & analytics
  • Solid leadership experience
  • Strong relationshipmanagement
  • Language skills: Dutch, French & English
