The position

For Royal BAM Group Control Department, we are looking for a group business controller who will act as a trusted finance advisor to the Executive Board of BAM. Using a broad spectrum of finance and business information, you support BAM in the design and execution of the group management control system. You co-coordinate group planning’s cycles like the annual budgeting plan process and you evaluate actual results. You assess the drivers behind the financial results and monitor key strategic initiatives that will deliver the finance figures of tomorrow.

You have sufficient knowledge of policies and procedures (eg IFRS) to apply them and, when needed, you bring the specialists from group control in. You support management using data based on analytical models. In your role, you will have the freedom to work on a variety of projects, including improvement and change projects.

You will be part of BAM group control team that includes around 10 finance professionals. You will report to the Group Control director.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Evaluate financial and business information, as well as investment proposals provided by BAM's operating companies on a regular basis, actively contribute in reviews and more informal dialogues with FD’s and MD’s
  • Work closely with the group control reporting and analyses specialists, in order to use the right information on the right moment
  • Stay up to date with trends in the construction industry

Candidate profile

Are you an experienced controller that enjoys having impact on important company decisions? You combine internal and external information to create valuable insights. You propose actions and impact senior decision making. You use your broad network of contacts in an effective way, combining financial and business knowledge in your dialogues. You act as a trusted advisor to group management and several external stakeholders. If you start smiling while reading this, then we are looking for you!

Your profile:

  • Master's Degree applied sciences in Business Administration, Business Economics or Accountancy
  • 8 to 10 years’ relevant work experience, preferably international and/or in the construction industry
  • Experience with controlling, policies & procedures (eg IFRS) to a certain extend
  • Experienced in using analyses and analytics to impact decision making
  • ‘Business savvy’, as recognized by other colleagues as well
  • A good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Master Finance & Control (EMFC/RC) would be an advantage

  • inquisitive; you dare to ask difficult questions and will continue asking questions where others stop
  • a robust, open discussion partner at all levels, both for internal and external parties
  • You are organizational aware, able to maintain a broad formal and informal network
  • Someone with strong analytical skills who combines their financial expertise with thorough knowledge of the business (processes)
  • Flexible in working hours in times of peak periods
