Client’s goal is to obtain full customer satisfaction through the consistent delivery of high-quality products and services. In the Benelux/UK region client is striving to increase revenues at least 10% on a year to year basis the next coming years.

The position

As a Technical Sales and Business Development Manager you are responsible for defining & championing the commercial efforts to substantial expand business in the UK, the Netherlands and Flanders. Besides growing client’s presence in existing markets, the primary focus of the role is growing new markets with functional wax additives in a consultative selling way. Therefore, new opportunities with new prospects (both direct and indirect), new markets and new applications have to be identified.

Tasks & responsibilities

Duties include identifying opportunities for clients’ existing and experimental products and developing a well-rounded understanding of the technical requirements and market value of the needs in the region. It is critical to understand customer/market aspirations and connect them to client’s capabilities and product properties.

Obviously, metrics around sales, volume, new business/customers, opportunity success rate and profit are important KPI’s. You will be a member of the European sales team and you report to the European Sales Director.

Candidate profile

In Technical Sales you have the right commercial competencies in combination with a proven track record for acting as a farmer. You have a great entrepreneurial spirit, and you can quickly understand the needs of our customers and the value that our products offer. You easily connect with people from different backgrounds across all levels of the organization.

As a Business Development manager, you operate as a hunter and are well experienced to target potential new business, new customers and new applications. Furthermore, you know how to convert opportunities in actual business. You gather information directly through customers/suspects/prospects and indirectly by attending trade shows/exhibitions/industry events. You aim to become a key player in the organization to highlight market evolutions and understand and react to emerging new markets or applications. You are dedicated to finetune Shamrock’s products and developments to the constantly changing business reality.

Furthermore, you:

  • have a bachelor or master’s degree
  • have at least 5 years’ experience in technical sales in the special additives industry (waxes, biocides, binders, defoamers, rheology modifiers, dispersions, emulsions, wax alloys, wax emulsions, oleo-chemical products)
  • experienced with and understanding coating/plastic formulations and the role of additives
  • have knowledge and experience in one of client’s key markets, coatings, inks or engineering plastics
  • have a good insight in market dynamics, customers and competitors
  • are positive, proactive, goal-oriented, comfortable to work independently and as a team player in an international team
  • have excellent problem solving, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • are fluent in English and Dutch
  • are above all: a sharp negotiator and deal closer
  • enjoy the intensive travelling aspect of the job
  • have a “get it done” type of personality
