Our client is a bank in Amsterdam that is part of a large US Corporation. Our client is looking for an --Operational Controller-- who is up to the challenge of leading a team of 9 people, 5 locally in Amsterdam and 4 who are in remote location abroad. You have the responsibility of leading all the reporting in both IFRS and US GAAP and regulatory reporting (Dutch Central bank and New York State Bank reporting) and driving continued improvements to the process.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be 

Manage 2 teams (US GAAP and IFRS Team) consisting of 9 financial Accountants;
Ensure compliance with IFRS and USGAAP accounting regulations, SOX404, regulatory reporting (DNB and NYSB) as well as internal policies and procedures;
Ensure the quality and sustainability of the Finance organisation by setting up and maintaining internal controls, processes and procedures;
Set-up and maintain a system of Controllership Key Performance Indicators and drive ownership for results, such as:
- Reduction of closing cycle time;
- Reduction of account reconciliation cycle time;
- Reduction in manual journal entries and correction entries;
- Improvement in the quality of the account reconciliations (both IFRS and USGAAP);
- Reduction in cycle time of stat filings and Corp Income Tax filings;
- Liaise with External and Internal Audit Staff and other (internal) audit reviews proactively, ensuring appropriate cross-functional support;
- Participate as an active business partner in key initiatives. 
 
The successful candidate will have

  • Minimum RA/RC/CPA, qualified through big 4.
  • At least 7 years of experience within an International Environment
  • Experience with both US GAAP and IFRS
  • Strong Leadership Management Skills 
  • Hands on, hard working, dedicated, flexible with a can do attitude. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, embraces change and can work under pressure; also critical, creative thinker and problem solve
  • Fluent in English
