Managing Director Netherlands

The organisation

For one of our clients, a company designing and manufacturing tailor-made, high quality products to the building industry, we are looking for an entrepreneurial Managing Director. In addition to its production and assembly activities, the company also provides advice and design. The company, employs over 50 people and is well known in its industry for its flexibility, high-quality and in-house knowledge and has long-lasting relationships with resellers/installers nationwide. It is positioned as a one-stop-shop provider.

The position

The Managing Director is responsible for providing leadership, vision and strategic direction to the organization. As the current shareholder considers the company as non-core it is looking to sell the company. We are looking for a Managing Director who would be willing to take calculated risks and to finance a (small) equity participation in case this is required by a potential buyer.

He/she will directly report to the sole shareholder of the company.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Full Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss responsibility
• Support and facilitate the sale of the company
• Develop and further grow the business and turnover of the company by internationalization while managing the key accounts in the Netherlands
• Drive the company’s marketing and sales activities and ensures that appropriate service is provided to customers of the company in order to maximize (international) client acquisition and ensure client retention
• Development of the company's long range and annual business plans. Coordinates development of operating and capital budgets according to the budget calendar; bring reporting up to private equity required levels
• Analyses financial statements, manages cash flow and establishes controls to safeguard funds. Reviews income and costs relative to goals; takes corrective action as necessary
• Enable an effective, inspiring, safe and secure working environment
• Co-ordinating with Production Manager, develops, maintains and administers a sound organizational plan; initiates improvements as necessary, work on continuous organizational developments and process improvements
• Oversees the care and maintenance of all the company's physical assets and facilities, including supporting the Financial Manager and Production Manager

Candidate profile

• Minimal a Bachelor degree, preferable a Master degree, either in Engineering, Business or other relevant fields
• The candidate is fluent in Dutch. Fluency in English and German is preferred
• The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years working experience, of which a minimum of 4-5 years as a Managing Director or similar position in a commercial production organization, ideally in a manufacturing environment supplying to the building industry
• The candidate should bring both (custom made) manufacturing, (international) commercial experience as well as experience with managing an organization of at least 50 people
• History of leading and implementing performance improvements in manufacturing environments
• A proven track record of project management and delivery, utilizing and leveraging resources across an organization
• Experience in (int.) business development, combining the ability to drive new business development, leveraging commercial contacts and maintain existing relationships
• Experienced in developing short and long term strategic plans
• Entrepreneurial attitude; ability to take initiative, work independently and operate with minimal supervision

Salary conditions

The position offers a relative independent Managing Director role in a healthy, profitable organisation with a strong market penetration and high quality delivery. A company with a relative new production facilities allowing room for growth without large investments required. In case of a private equity sale the opportunity to participate through a small stake in the company’s equity (will depend on the private equity party).
