Department objectives

To provide a planning, reporting and control function to the Group to enable the Group to report reliable and timely financial information to the Group’s management and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the Group’s reporting process resulting in complete, accurate and timely information available for the various stakeholders: Management Board, Supervisory Board, BU Management etc.
  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement by implementing of and reviewing compliance with policies and procedures to ensure best practice and efficiency in reporting and control within Our client.
  • Assist the Group Director C&R with the Internal Planning, Budgeting and Controlling cycle.
  • Ensure that all reporting deadlines are met on time.
  • Responsible for external audit preparation and liaison with auditors.
  • Ensure that there are no external audit exposures.

Key tasks

  • Lead and manage the Group Control function.
  • Responsible for the timely preparation of the monthly reporting packs to the Management Board and the Supervisory Board.
  • Review (oversee the review of) the monthly BU’s and sites’ performances using the Group’s MPC reporting system.
  • Manage the BU’s and sites’ quarterly forecasts and annual budget processes, in accordance with the financial reporting schedule.
  • Monitoring the Group’s financial performance and manage exposure to unbudgeted events and issues.
  • Analyse deviations and take/suggest corrective actions through direct contacts with BU and site management.
  • Participate in Group Control visits planned throughout the year to asses the overall control environment in the Group’s sites.
  • Become involved in training senior finance staff in the sites.
  • Oversee the monthly MPC consolidation process.
  • Ad-hoc projects identified as a result of issues arising in specific sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to the control team, when necessary, on key areas of the department’s responsibilities.

Essential skills/abilities

  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Financial Acumen: 7-10 years experience in a financial control role (ideally a mix of Accounting, Operational, Auditing and Controlling experience).
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Good time management and planning skills.
  • Leader & motivator, able to build and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-starter with a pro-active approach to continuous improvement through team building and best practice.
  • Fluency in English (other language skills e.g. German or Mandarin useful).
  • Innovation skills; out-of-the-box thinker
  • Proactive approach, able to manage change.
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Hands-on mentality.
  • Ability to travel (up to 20%).

Experience

Comfortable with dealing with people at all levels.
Successful track record in a dynamic fast moving industry (electronics business environment experience or a service line business, e.g. repair business).
Extensive experience using consolidation/reporting/performance measurement systems, e.g. Hyperion, Cognos, MPC.

Knowledge/qualifications

1. Business Degree or equivalent in Accounting / Business Economics.
2. RA/RC qualification desirable.
3. Sound knowledge of IFRS.
