Finance Director Projects

In this position you supervise and support the financial and administrative aspects of the activities within a specific (inter)national area, with focus on achieving the best possible result.  

You have a direct reporting line to the Area Director and a functional responsibiliy to the Corporate CFO. You have several responsibilities: 

1. Policy and steering 

You are responsible for preparing the financial basis for the Area annual plan in close consultation with the Area Director, in order to check the feasibility of the planned activities. Also uses this information to help form the Area objectives. At the same time you are responsible for executing financial audits on existing projects. 

2. Management information and reporting

In consultation with the Area Director you are responsible for generating project reports, management reports and forecasts on time to help sharpen the focus on the Area results and to ensure that corporate reporting requirements are met in keeping with the relevant guidelines and the aim being to generate the corporate report and help sharpen the focus on the corporate results. 

3. Quarterly figures 

You are responsible for preparing the Area's quarterly profit and loss accounts and quarterly balance sheet in keeping with legal requirements and reporting guidelines, in order to acquire insight into the Area results and be in a position to advise Area Management. 

4. Advisory duties 

You are responsible for advising the Area management team of which you are a member of. Also advises the individual MT members on broad financial matters, taking into account possible conflicts of interest between the Area and the corporate level, the ultimate aim being to contribute positively to the Area result. 

5.  Leadership 

You are responsible to lead and direct the Administrators and Project Administrators within the Area Administration, in order to monitor and improve the quality of the financial reporting. The various Senior Controllers coordinate their leadership and coaching of the pool of Project Administrators, to ensure that the projects and Areas always receive administrative support of a high qualitative and quantitative standard. Depending of the are you are responsible for managing 5-10 employees direct and 1- 2 employees indirect.

6. Contacts 

You represent your employer during consultation meetings with customers, external advisors and Joint Venture partners, the aim being to promote the interests of your employer as well as possible.

Job Requirements

  • To be succesfull in this job, the candidate needs to have the following requirements:
  • Specialization in business economics (Bsc/ Msc). 
  • Extended knowledge of accounting tools and techniques, preferably in a international oriented project organisation. 
  • Used to think along with general management but from a critical/ risk perspective 
  • Where necessary a counter-balance towards management. 
  • Is able to function in cooperation with corporate Legal, Tax & Treasury as the key management team member with profound knowledge of (fiscal) legislation, matters of financing/ funding and legal affairs. 
  • Possesses knowledge about project finance, export credit guarantees/insurance, suppliers credits, senior debts, mezzanine, etc. Is competent in the field of credit control (accounts receivable, payment policies). 
  • Capable of reporting and clarifying facts and figures and interdependent tendencies. 
  • Willing to travel abroad on a regular base (approximately a week per month). 
  • Good communication skills (speech and writing) in Dutch and English. 
  • Leadership capacities and above all a pleasant colleague.

Salary Conditions

The gross annual salary of this position is € 90.000  - € 120.000 including 8% holiday allowance. The variable salary/ bonus is 12% up to 24% of the gross annual salary including holiday allowance and depending on personal and company performance. A company car is also included in the total package.
