The organisation

Our client is the leading worldwide specialist in the supply of an in manufacturing technology related product. Our client manufactures and supplies a wide range of metalworking products of primarily water based but also straight oil coolants for metal cutting and grinding. Also formulations for numerous other types of metalworking applications, like cleaning and forming are part of the product line. Selling through its own sales branches or via country distributors.

Metal Working Industry represents: Automotive and their suppliers, Aerospace, Machinery, Tube & Pipe, Bearing, Building Industry. The European Headquarters is based in South-Holland, The Netherlands. Candidate living in The Netherlands.

The position

Lead, manage, co-ordinate, build and develop the European Sales team across Europe. The Commercial Director will be responsible for Marketing & Sales within Europe for the Direct markets i.e. sales through Local Sales Branches in 9 countries. The Commercial Director is responsible for Marketing & Sales in the territory and for the 9 sales branches and their staff in Europe.

He or She develops strong and profitable relationships with the local sales branch managers and their staff and indirectly with their current and new (key –account) customers and distributors.

The Commercial Director Direct Markets reports directly to the Managing Director, and is responsible for up to 80 (local) staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises evaluation to support strategic and commercial decision making
  • Supervises new business opportunities
  • Supervises and negotiates contracts and agreements
  • Manages existing business and (direct and indirect) customer relationships
  • Implements marketing & sales techniques and methodologies
  • Able to develop, present and pitch strategic growth sales & marketing plan for Europe
  • Organizes and structures the Sales Team for our European Organization
  • Provides proactive commercial and marketing support to company management
  • Co-ordinates training and customer support for the direct markets
  • Direct Markets Plans, budgets and P&L responsible

The offer

A competitive salary package of €100.000 OTE, including pension and other benefits. A company car, laptop/computer and BlackBerry are part of the available tools

The position will be based in The Netherlands, and intensive travelling of 50% up to 70% is required.

Candidate profile

  • University degree in business or MBA with at least 10 years commercial experience preferably in mechanical or consumable goods industry
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, extrovert, leader, diplomatic, sense of humour
  • Internationally oriented
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to build and develop cross-functional relationships at all levels
  • Proven track record working with local European Sales organizations
  • Demonstrated sales and marketing strategy development
  • Proven B2B track record
  • You are a highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial person
  • Innovative and inspiring
  • Fluent in English, German and a third language
