Organisation:

A leading specialized international coatings business with seven production plants in different continents and sales organization world wide. Large and innovative range of products. Highly technical and service oriented sales. Headquarters, R&D centre and main production facility in the south of the Netherlands. Its European organization consists of a plant in the south of the Netherlands and a second production facility in the South of Europe. The two plants serve European customers based mainly in Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, and supply also to associated or internal customers in China, Singapore, South America, Central America and USA. Nearly 50% of the worldwide production is manufactured in Europe. Some recent changes have made overseas internal and external customers more dependent on the European plants. The four global Divisions are managed globally, with HQ based in the south of the Netherlands.

Position description:

The Group engineering/SHE manager provides support to the Management Team, and specially to the Manufacturing Group Director in ensuring best practice, consistency and the right standards in the group operations capital expenditure and ensure best practice and most safe operational standerds in the group.

Key responsibilities:

• To ensure capital expenditure in the group follows the group strategy and standards, especially on manufacturing and support installations. The job holder will make sure that there is a system in the group to evaluate and approve capital investment.
• To make sure that local manufacturing organizations have the right resources in terms of skills and capabilities, in each unit and that the experience in the Group benefits all members when is about evaluating or designing a new manufacturing installation.
• The job holder will act often as the project Manager for major or relevant investment, specially when local capabilities will require it.
• As a SHE group Manager, to help setting up and keeping the right SHE standards, monitor the performance of the group and each unit and ensure improvement.
• Safety is of great importance to the group; the job holder will make sure that standards are correct and that each unit is capable of controlling, evaluation and correcting the operations standards such that the group minimizes risk in operations. This should include monitoring, training, motivating, etc.

Requirements:

This is clearly a role of influence and results are achieved through others. This requires very sound analytical skills, high proficiency in the finance function, good understanding of the business, the business processes and practices. In addition the job holder needs excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to see the global picture and at the same time translate into practical local solutions.

Candidate`s profile:

• Relevant university degree.
• Ideally a chemical engineer with experience in process, equipment and maintenance.
• A person at this level requires no less than 10 years experience in the chemical industry and in running projects.
• Essential to have good knowledge and experience in SHE matters and relevant legislation applicable.

Conditions:

• Salary € 80.000 - € 100.000 OTE
