Job description

The Assistant Department Head Subsea Services works within the Subsea Services Department. The department manages subsea support services provided by both our own equipment (ROVs, etc.) and subcontractors, including seabed inspection prior to and following pipelaying. The Assistant Department Head Subsea Services reports directly to the Department Head Subsea Services and represents him in his absence.

Job requirements

• BSc or MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Hydrography or equivalent;
• Relevant management courses;
• A minimum of ten years experience with survey and ROV equipment including four years in a management position;
• Excellent communicator, pragmatic problem solver, team player and people manager;
• Good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken;
• Willingness to travel.

Job tasks

• Co-ordinate department activities for projects where specific input and knowledge of the Subsea Services Department is required; 
• Prepare project execution plans;
• Liaise on a regular basis with the department Unit Heads;
• Manage all subcontractor activities;
• Supervise project related cost reporting;
• Assess and approve all project documents and project purchases related to the Subsea Services Department;
• Ensure a proper personnel plan is in place for both crew and staff;
• Participate in the formal annual evaluation and informal evaluations of departmental personnel;
• Guide and coach departmental personnel based on evaluations;
• Provide ongoing input and feedback on ways to improve departmental standards, working methods and guidelines;
• Identify activities, processes and procedures within the Subsea Services Department for future improvement.
