Based in Veghel (in the south of the Netherlands), Van der Lande Industries is with 1800 employees a world player in the design, assembly, installation and management of automated material handling systems for luggage at airports, parcels at express delivery companies and general warehousing and distribution systems. For the Business Unit (BU) responsible for the luggage handling systems there is a vacancy for area manager Brazil. In larger countries in Europe and in the US as well as in some developing countries there are 100% owned Customer Centers. Outside these countries the BU is responsible for the sale, installation and service of luggage handling systems.

Job Description

An area manager is responsible for the acquisition of new projects, mainly turn-key projects to the value of 3 to 30 million Euro. He or she leads a team of around 7 sales engineers and 2 sales managers, who are responsible for often lengthy tendering processes and final contract negotiations. Essential is to have the right network of agents and partners in the different regions, who have good relations with the authorities and other parties, which are involved in the acquisition process. The incumbent must have hands on experience, take his/her own initiative, has the perseverance and social skills to find and close deals over sometimes periods of 2 years. He/she spends around 30-40% of the time traveling. 

Requirements

• Academic education, a technical background is an advantage but commercial skills are a must 
• At least five years experience and track record in the sales of capital projects 
• Fluent in English and Portuguese (Spanish is a plus) 
• Preferable an understanding of logistic/flow processes
