Ocean Recruitment is a recruitment company dedicated to the chemical and raw materials industry. For one of our clients we are searching for a Technical Sales & Development Manager - Europe.

Our client is a USA based company that produces specialty chemicals for a broad range of products. They manufacture inorganic, organometallic, metal and acid catalyst products that are used in formulating polyurethane, melamine, polyester, and silicone-based chemistries for use in plastics, coatings, elastomers, adhesives, sealants, personal care, hydrogen peroxide, oil/gas drilling additives, electronics and lubricants.

Their mission is to provide the highest quality products and services to their customers, working together in a partnership to solve problems with innovative solutions. They aim to be a global supplier of specialty chemicals that meet or exceed both domestic and international environmental and quality standards.

The position

This senior role is a challenge for a sales driven person, who can develop customers and new business, manage distributors and build long term relationships. A challenge for an experienced person who can work independently in the European market with the support of a high qualified team.

Our client has running business in Europe with direct accounts and through a network of appointed distributors. The Technical Sales & Development Manager - Europe, will manage this running business.

Tasks & responsibilities

Furthermore you:

  • Are responsible for the preparation, proposal and execution of the annual European business plan.
  • Prepare strategic account plans and negotiate and execute long term supply contracts with key customers.
  • Identify potential customers in the sales zone and develop a technical and commercial approach to reach them. Where needed you will initiate lab project requests.
  • Manage distributor relationships. 
  • Will be expected to spend a significant amount of your time (ca. 60%) out of the office, visiting clients and prospects.
  •  
  • Develop market knowledge and a network; you analyze the market, screen potential clients and evaluate competition in order to enhance the business.
  • Liaise intensively with the Sales and Marketing Director, you track and report on revenue and profitability and agree on pricing, action plans and priorities.
  • Use corporate systems and processes in order to follow up on samples, logistics, complaints, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing functions to maximize visibility of the company and its products through participation in and support of trade show activity and advertising.
  • Have involvement in ISO 9001 and RC 14001 projects and activities.

Candidate profile

You have at least five years of experience in chemical sales in an international B2B environment. Preferably in specialty chemicals for CASE, surface finishing and/or plastics.

  • Educational level: MSc. degree.
  • A strong background in chemistry or similar technical discipline is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and German.
  • You possess drive, motivation and acute attention to detail in ensuring all sales opportunities are captured and explored.
  • You are able to build strong relationships at all levels of the clients’ organizations.
  • Experienced in working collaboratively with internal and external technical functions for technical problem solving and new product development.
  • Willing to travel extensively.
  • Good proficiency with ERP, CRM, Microsoft Office and web-conferencing.
