The position

At Wolters Kluwer we are looking for a Director Group Accounting & Reporting who is a dedicated IFRS specialist. Being the leader of complex, global projects and having responsibility for external financial reporting makes this a very challenging position for a Chartered Accountant (RA). The Director Group Accounting & Reporting has the responsibility for the external financial reporting of the group. In this role you will also be leading complex, global projects such as the implementation of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16. You will interact and collaborate with Controllers, (local) CFOs, Tax, M&A, Treasury and Business Analysis.

In this role you will be part of a professional, high-level and ambitious team.The Director Group Accounting & Reporting reports to the VP Group Accounting & Reporting. He/she cooperates closely together with one colleague (Chartered Accountant). This highly exposed position in a matrix structured and complex multinational, requires a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of IFRS as well as strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

The successful candidate is a strong and convincing personality, able to get the buy in from his/her stakeholders. A very challenging opportunity for a Chartered Accountant (RA) who would like to switch from a Big 4 to a business environment or someone who recently switched from a Big 4 to the business in a similar role.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements including notes for Full and Half Year
  • Consult on technical accounting topics for the local business units
  • Stay up-to-date with IFRS developments and roll-out knowledge to the group
  • Manage relationship with Auditors focusing on execution of the audits, dealing with findings and technical accounting topics
  • Develop and maintain master data definition, including the group IFRS accounting and reporting manual
  • Train and develop own staff in the Group as well as ensure proper knowledge of accounting standards and accounting manual in the (global) finance function
  • Assist and support in ad hoc business projects
  • Assist in reviewing IAS 19 calculations of the group companies
  • Prepare, review and report on Annual Impairment test
  • Review and reconcile - in close cooperation with Tax department - local statutory accounts
  • Perform, together with local management and experts, Purchase Price Allocations of acquired companies
  • Roll-out of new standards like Revenue Recognition (IFRS 15), Leasing (IFRS 16) and Integrated Reporting

For carrying out these duties the Director Group Accounting & Reporting works closely with CFOs and controllers of Wolters Kluwer’s global operating divisions, external accountants and the corporate staff, including analysts and experts of the corporate staff departments in the area of treasury, tax, business analysis & control, legal, communications and mergers & acquisitions.

Candidate profile

  • Registered Dutch Chartered Accountant
  • 10-12 years of relevant experience at a Big 4 audit firm and/or in a multinational (for instance in an External Reporting and/or Accounting position)

If you do not possess the required educational background (RA), you will not be considered for this position.
